I was planning on getting a Beretta/Stoeger Cougar. I have a Beretta Storm and I love it. The Cougar is still on the list, but it got set back on the priority list. Two of my friends got .22 pistols for Christmas, and the ability to go out and practice all afternoon on the cheap is a definite asset to improving one's skills. So I got on Beretta's website, read up on the Neos, and ended up purchasing one. The Cougar is still on the list but the Neos is the brand new favorite right now. I took it out and shot soda cans for a few hours with my friends and had a blast for less than $10 (ammo and soda cans).

I plan on customizing it with a 7.5" barrel (currently has a 4.5") as well as some other features. One of the biggest additions I want to make is a 2 or 4 power scope. I've browsed cheaperthandirt and midwayusa and found a few that seem decent, all at or around $100. Any recommendations or personal experience with handgun scopes to help me decide?

i'm not all that wild about handgun scopes. they are a little finicky to use, and are only a true asset at the further reaches, if you have enough magnification. but enough magnification on a handgun scope is difficult...

if you will be shooting to 100 yards and beyond, i'd say a scope will be great. if you will be doing the bulk of your shooting closer than that, especially if it is 50 yards and in, i'd suggest some sort of a red dot type of a set up.

good luck!

I was thinking of a 2 power scope. The iron sights cover up smaller targets past 25 yards.
