Beretta Neos Failure to Feed

I purchased a new u22 Neos over the weekend after reading many reviews touting its reliablility with almost all .22 rimfire ammunition, its comfort, and accuracy. I also felt the need to improve my pistol marksmanship and looked at this as an affordable means towards that goal.

Anyway, after taking it home and putting a few magazines through it, the pistol would jam almost every shot. I fed it everything from bulk pack blazer ammo to Federal HV Match and nothing seemed to feed. Then, I noticed what was causing the problem. In each instance of a jam, the slide would stop short against the magazine release before it could chamber a round. Anyone know what would cause this? Is there a way it can be fixed without returning the pistol to Beretta?

The picture is really poor quality.

If you push down on the slide lock lever when it "jams" does it feed the round? If so check your grip to make sure the off-hand is not putting upward pressure on the lever.

All I have is the camera on my Droid.

As to the rest, yes the round will chamber when I depress the slide lock lever during a "jam." And my support hand isn't putting upward pressure on the lever since I'm a lefty. As far as I can tell, its not bumping against my index finger either.

I have a Ruger 22/45 that will do that a lot when I shoot it left handed and never when I shoot it right handed. Never have figured it out!

Look for the rounds rubbing on the lever when they move up into feed position, perhaps there is a burr or something. Likely you will have to send it back to Beretta.
