I have not the Taurus Spectrum but bough the gen 2 Beretta Pico. Actually it seems to me that Beretta and Taurus are the same Company (can that be true that behind the Scenes Taurus, CBC and Beretta have the same ownership and basically is part of the same Group?) since the take down System of the Spectrum and Pico are the same. Maybe since Beretta sold to Taurus their factory stock and mold, there is a partnership going on. Hence Taurus and S&W had as well the same ownership once therefore the same Revolver copies.
The Spectrum is an considerable upgrae to the TCP with it's real stainless steel slide and Barrel. It's though 0.3" longer than the Pico but has 0.1" longer Barrel wich is a positive (every thousands of an Inch matters for velocity in These Micro pistols. With Aguila FMJ I get with the 2.7" Pico Barrel 877 fps for 162 ft-lbs of energy). I dont like the Spectrums rubber polymer overmolds and I am sure that will turn People away from the gun once they use it daily. The rubber will react with oil and swell and after a few times getting in touch with oil or grease it will be spongy and awkward to hold like the Taurus Revolver ribber rubber grips. You dont wanna have ruber on a gun. For Display it's nice and when new as well but once you use it on a farm or Spill oil over it, it will be a nightmare. The Beretta Picos glass filled Nylon grip is the superior design (specially for me as I have very small Hands) for daily use and oil resistancy.
The Spectrum is thicker and longer than the Pico but with a bit less height.
Other Thing I dont like about the Spectrum is it's aluminum Chassis or Frame. Worst idea ever. Winner is by far the Beretta Pico with it's solid stainless steel Frame.
I prefer the european style mag release of the Pico over the easy to press accidentally button style of all other Micro 380 acp including the Spectrum. A plus is the Spectrum mag release is ambidextrous changeable.
All controls of the Pico are metal, stainless steel. Which is not the case for the Spectrum. Including the Picos Trigger and mag release are metal, which is a huge plus but the Spectrums mag release and Trigger are polymer.
Overall the Spectrum has wastly improved over the TCP but does not come Close to the Pico Quality wise. The Pico is the superior gun regards the Quality.
Favourable is the Spectrums easy to rack slide which is fixable on the Pico by takin out the Picos inner hammer spring which improves by 1/4 the slide pull and by 1/2 the Trigger pull (which is now about half as heavy for 4 to 5 lbs max and is very smooth and easy but yet reliable till date).
