I've really taken a liking to the M9/92fs handguns. That being said, I'm taking a hard look at the PX4. This gun will be used for training and carry. They both feel good in my hand and share the same battery of arms. However, I'm wondering if the PX4 would be more forgiving and durable at high round counts. The only two drawbacks for the PX4 I can see are magazine price and parts availability. So, do I get the PX4 or another M9? Note: weight is not an issue in my situation.

If you have an M9 already, why not get the PX4? Variety is always good. I had a Stoegar Cougar and the rotating bbl system was extremely accurate. I'm guessing you'd like it.

I'd go with the PX4. Keep an eye on the Beretta website as they have sales from time to time on the magazines. Last year I saw the mags going for $20 instead of the $40+ they have them priced at.

I own neither, but forum member ShipWreck has piqued my interest in the Beretta 92FS. Naturally, during research on the 92FS you do run into stuff on the PX4. The PX4 does feel good in the hand, and since I primarily shoot .45ACP, the PX4 offers that option while the 92FS doesn't.

The late Stephen Camp did a few reviews on the PX4 over the years, and generally liked them.

On the other hand, I've seen some less than favorable comments from Todd Green ( http://pistol-training.com ) who I believe was a former Beretta employee, on the PX4.

I have a full size PX4 in 9mm and a Model 96 (.40 cal). To me, the PX4 has the better trigger-it feels crisper, with a shorter pull and a quicker reset. The 96 has the D spring upgrade, yet the PX4 still has a better feeling trigger, in my opinion. Also, it's extremely accurate to boot!

I love my PX4 in .40, feels natural in my hand and points like an extension of my arm. I have had no quality issues with mine and it will eat everything I feed it including lead SWC.

I have also been seeing mags much cheaper, Beretta had a sale not to long ago for around $20 each and Scheels has the 17 round mags on clearance here in WI for $25.

I've always wondered why Beretta didn't make the two guns compatible in terms of magazines. I'd probably own both if I could swap mags.

I can only assume they wanted to just sell more magazines, but maybe there is an actual engineering reason.

Get another 92, not the px4 storm! You will be better off in the long run, parts for one!

Personally I like the Storm much better than the M9. The Storm has all the bells and whistles of the M9 or M92 with much better ergonomics.

If you are invested in M9/92fs magazines remember that with the PX4 you have to invest in a whole new mess of magazines. Personally I try to keep my assortment of magazines down, so in my opinion variety is NOT necessarily a good thing. Especially since I like to have at least 10 magazines per type of pistol.

I have both and I love both. Having said that, I would advise you to start with the 92. It is, IHMO one of the finest hand guns ever produced and is very hard to beat for the price point.

I don't have anything against the PX4, I just like the 92 better and know that it has a long history where the PX4 is relatively new in comparison.

I personally dislike the PX4. When I have shot them, they just haven't felt right and haven't been anything that I would really want. So, if it were me, I would get another M9 solely because I would have no interest in the PX4.

However, if you like the feeling of the PX4, then by all means, get one to compliment your M9.
