Beretta Px4 Storm experiences? XDm?

I am looking at buying a Px4 storm.
Does anyone have any experiences they could share?

I shot one at the range a while ago and it was very accurate. Especially given that it was a dirty, range rental that had not been cleaned.

I like both the XDm and Px4 Storm. does anyone have both?
Is it just a coin flip on which action you like best?

The XDm has some nice design enhancements. I really like how the XDm mag release and slide release hit my thumb.

Both the Px4 and XDm have changeable backstraps to help the gun fit your hand.

What are your thoughts?

(this will be used for range work and home defense. It will not see hardly any CCW time)

Both are AWESOME choices. Shoot both, fondle both, and then make your choice as to which gun "speaks to you". Buy it.

(And then start saving up for the other one!)

I have the PX4 in 9mm. It's an excellent pistol. I am sold on Beretta and want to pick up a Cougar, a 92fs, and maybe a CX4.

The XD is also a great pistol, but the grip angle is way different. If you aren't CCWing, the XD45 5" tactical model (12-13 round capacity) seems like an awesome choice.

The biggest difference is what safety and triggers you want.
For CCW, I like the Beretta's external safety, it's nigh impossible to accidental discharge. That won't be a factor for you, however, because you aren't CCWing. Also, some folks think extra safeties are unnecessary and also a liability (might forget to disengage it). It's a personal choice.

The XD will have a constant trigger, while the Beretta will either be DA/SA or DAO depending on what you buy.

They are both good pistols. They both have good safety features. What ultimately made me pick the Beretta was the uber-over-engineered external safety, the external hammer, and the comfortable grip. And well, I am partial to Italy over Croatia.

Being 25% italian I know what you mean.

I like autos with a hammer and the DA/SA triggers. I guess I should go with the Px4 storm. But, then I'll have to buy the sc and the Cx4. Where does it end?

I had a PX4 in .40 for quite a while. I traded it for a 1911, but not because anything was wrong with it. I shot a lot of rounds through that pistol it was a great little gun. I qualified for CCW with as well. They're really good made guns. But so are the XDs though. I don't know too much about the XDm's though. To me it seems like paying extra money for nothing. How much difference is there in an XDm and a regular XD? Like someone said, you'll have to put them in your hand and see what works best for you. For me it was unique design of the PX4. I'd never seen a pistol that looked like that with it's strange lines. The XD felt just as good in my hand, but it looked like I was holding a block of wood. Handle them both and don't try to overanalyze it.

I have not shot either but have handled both and I prefer the PX4 but thats more about fit and feel for me.

The nice thing about the PX4, the PX4sc, and the CX4 is you could basically have a defensive system with all inter-changeable mags and all the same caliber.

And the PX4 just handles so great.

I wasn't aware that the CX4 used the same mag as the PX4. I'm fairly certain that it didn't at least when I first bought mine. There was some type of adapter that you would have to put on the CX4 for it to accept PX mags. The local police dept bought CX4s for their patrol officers because the CX4 would interchange with their Beretta 92 mags.

Didn't know that. I sure would have liked to see a CX4 in 10mm. I think I would have had to break down and buy one then. After I got rid of PX4, the SC model came out and I really like that little dude! I might end up breaking down and buying one of those.
