Got to handle one last night. Guys, if you have not seen the royal blue/CC vesion of the stampede RUSH to have a look. That thing was GORGEOUS. if it was available in 44 mag I would have put a deposit onit right then and there.

I don't need another 357, don't want to buy a 45 Colt, unless it's a COLT.

But if you always wanted a cowboy style gun that holds 6 and can be carried safely that way.. give that Beretta a look.

Still drooling.

Lol, 'cause there is no such thing... it's a Beretta Stampede... only two "t's".:D Pokin' fun at the Doc.

I've seen one of these and have to agree... it's drop dead gorgeous.

My only question is about the strength. How hot can you load'm up and stay safe? I know the Rrrrrggggeeerrr Voqueros are pretty dang tough... how do these compair?

grumblegrumble

see what happens when you get so excited you type too fast?

I think it was just over $500.. but really the bluing was to die for. (this is the most high-end Stampede they make.)

Strength is supposedly on par with the Colt SAA...so figure a careful handload can drive a 250grain hardcast 45LC to about 950 - 1,000fps. Or it'll be safe to shoot Cor-Bon's 200grain defense JHP @ 1,100fps or a number or other equivelents (Georgia Arms has a critter based on the Gold Dot 230 driven just a hair past 45ACP spec that would be great if you wanna CCW the thing).

Still quite useful power, but NOT a Ruger.

My best friend has one (NP, not blued - but the screws on it are coated in a bright blue!). He brought it last time we went dove hunting and we both shot it. It shoots like a dream, but it was louder than ?????. (no earplugs) It is a VERY nice looking gun, and when you work the action it's very smooth. He got it for $400 which is an excellent buy IMO. It was in .45 colt.

He called to tell me about it a few weeks ago but I wasn't home so he told my wife about it. She told me he said he got a Beretta revolver, and I kept saying "what kind of revolver? Beretta? Are you sure that's what he said?!" I really didn't know Beretta made anything of the sort. I thought that with all the tactical stuff they make, a SA revolver would be like the "anti-Beretta"!

Well, the idea of Beretta building "old style" guns is NOT that crazy.

Not when you consider that not only are they literally the oldest gun manufacturer on the planet, they're the oldest continually functioning company around. Period. They have actual corporate records dating back 475 years, with the same family ownership!!! (And that first purchase order was for cannon barrels.)

Lloyd's of London might be in the #2 spot for "oldest company"?

Hold on a damn second here.

Jim, the Stampedes are exempt from the happy-droptest law because they're single action revolvers, correct?

I can hear the gears ginding there Skunk! :neener: What are you scheming?

That's right Skunky. So long as:

1) They're at least five-shooters and...

2) They're at least 7.5" long measured parallel to the barrel...

...there's no special testing whatsoever. You can therefore sell the non-transfer-bar SAA and it's close clones like the Rodeo in California, otherwise they'd have been banned as they could never pass a drop-test.

The length requirement is supposedly why the Ruger Bird's-head 32H&R on the Single Six frame sports a 4.68" barrel instead of 3.5". With the shorter tube, it wouldn't make the length cut-off. The same basic gun in 45LC on the longer Vaquero frame will (with 3.5" tube) but it's a close thing.

The length requirement is in there specifically to screw NAA and similar. The five-shot requirement is to screw Derringers. Both need to go through the full testing process. NAA should do a 5" or 6" barrel "MiniMaster Stretch" just to screw with 'em; once we own 'em, we CAN chop 'em down, they just couldn't be sold by a dealer in that condition.

Heaven help us...

Anybody found a link for carbon fiber chaps yet...:)

Haven't seen the pistol yet, have been told it is drop dead something else ...that bluing...gotta find time to get hooked up and shoot one...

Beretta s.a.. Without a dought the crappiest rendition of case hardening ever seen. It may or may not exceed Ruger's rust resistance, but looks like "paint by numbers"attempt. Black plastic grips were definition quality like wolf's head mold I did in Cub Scouts. Saw them at a show 3 weeks ago. Bought a Ruger stainless 4" instead.

I think that CZ is second to Beretta in the oldest department. They have the largest small-arms factory in the world, too. No SAA clones, however!

I saw the Uberti goodies - even the Stampede. Yes, they look better than a Ruger... but I am not a traditionalist - I love my 5.5" Ruger SS Bisley in .45 Colt. It has adjustable sights, a comfortable grip, easily reached hammer, and is acceptably accurate and consistent, albeit after I reamed the cylinder exit holes to a consistent .4525". Additionally, it is a safe six-shooter - and I love the cleaning ritual in SS. I may get a Rodeo... like the 'made in USA' idea, too. Yeah, I really like my CZ rimfires!

Stainz

PS My .45 Colt S&W 625 Mountain Gun, with it's 4" tube, is more accurate & consistent than any other .45 Colt handgun I've shot - and that's in DA!
