Beretta called yesterday and said that my 3032 Tomcat pistol with the cracked frame was non repairable. They also said that it would be an extended time before more Tomcats would be available. Instead of waiting a long time, Beretta offered to send me a new Nano as a replacement pistol. I don't know that I prefer the Nano, but it is in the same price range as what I sent in for repair. I figure to examine it and see how it feels before determining whether to keep it or sell it in preference to something else. You guys think the exchange is a fair deal from Beretta?

Yeah. The Nano might not be an incredible gun, but it is a whole lot better than a non-repairable Tomcat.

Did they say they would send you a tomcat when they start making them again, or did they say they are not making them anymore. The Nano is an excellent pistol I own one, but I also own a Tomcat and love that gun. Tough choice if you really liked the Tomcat. Did they give you a time line on the Tomcat?

I got the impression they were not going to produce more Tomcats for an undetermined period until the problems had been solved. Therefore I was offered the Nano as a substitute as an immediate solution.

I think that sounds like a fair trade. I have liked the tomcat my dad had, but the nano has always struck me as a decent little gun.

If you're short a gun to carry right now, take the Nano. I have one, and it runs fine. Ask them to throw in a set of night sights for your trouble.

If you can afford to wait, skip the Tomcat and ask for a Pico in .32 ACP. After all, it's a .32 that you're replacing, right? They're supposed to be coming out very soon.

I would rather have a 9mm Nano for Conceal carry than 32 Tomcat any day. The Nano has had excellent reviews since it has been in the marketplace. Take it now, and do not look back.

That's a toughy. Two totally different guns. I had a Tomcat, mine was an early one and I sold it before the frame might crack. I thought they had that solved when they beefed up the frame?
I guess take the Nano and you can sell it and buy a new Tomcat at a LGS.

I would take the Nano. I had a Tomcat about 10 years ago, and it was VERY ammo sensitive. You could always buy another Tomcat when they start making them again, or pick one up at a show or when you see one in the display case.

Take the Nano. I had two Tomcats, and an array of bad experiences, including having the slide come off the rails and jam. I had to use a padded hammer to get it back on track. All factory loads, etc. Sold it with a disclaimer; took a loss.

Getting a NANO sounds like a great deal. Take it and run. Don't look back. If you've lost confidence in Beretta, sell the NANO as a new gun, unfired...

You are lucky
I've had a Tomcat with a busted frame for 5 years because Beretta refused to fix it.
They didn't even want to talk abut it, said I'd had it too long (it was a little over a year old)

I had owned the Tomcat for a couple of years. Beretta sent me a UPS pickup slip. I shipped the gun in the plastic box with a date and the gun store location where I purchased it. Beretta gave me no trouble at all about it. It pays to keep reasonable records I guess.

I have the Nano and like it fine. Easy to conceal IWB. Doesn't like 115 grain loads though. Anything heavier/hotter it likes.

Didn't know about the problems with the Tomcats! I have 2 . One in stainless. &the other one is the thinner blue model. I have never had a problem with eather of mine. Now I might have to sell them &get something that won't break & not be able to get repairs! Hate to do that as they are both favorites of mine. Not much out there to replace it with as far as caliber & size go. I would take the Nano as that sounds like the best deal you will get!

Krupparms, I would not sell them if you like them. I own one and would buy another in a heart beat, want a stainless. I love the gun, it shoots great and is a great carry piece. Not all Tomcats crack, some have thousands of rounds through them without any problems. Your thinner slide is more prone to cracking than your stainless, but I wouldn't hesitate to carry them. Enjoy your pistols.
