Does the Inox and Black Tomcat share the same recoil spring? I put a black slide on a Beretta Tomcat Inox.
But I'm wondering if I also need to replace the spring?

Tomcat Recoil Spring..

I think they do have same spring, however I Been doing some studying on the Tomcat lately I would have to ask you this:

Is the Black slide a thin slide (7/8") or a newer wide slide (1-1/16")
The reason I ask is the well known frame cracking problem! The theory is that the thin slide did not have enough weight to absorb the energy of the ammo.

Therefore the slide went back into frame with to much energy, thus cracking the frame above the tip up barrel release pin. (frame is thin there anyway)

I would also not shoot ammo with pressure above 130 fpe !

The Inox did not have the same issue due to it already had the wider slide.
The Titanium which is hard to find...did not have the problem due to the obvious...(titanium)

Anyway good luck with your project!

I have a the wide slide Inox. The black slide fits on my frame. The black slide is thinner to accept a Crimson Trace laser grip.

I found the famous crack on my frame where you said. Probably, because I shot hot RBCD ammo through it. Because I haven't shot with the thin black slide yet. Is the frame crack really going to affect the functioning?

I tried to look for a titanium one. But I can't find any available on the internet.

Cracked Inox

It is not common for the Inox to be cracked! If you shot the Hot ammo that is probably what done it.

The good news is Call Beretta and get a new one shipped to you!

The Bad news is / or could be a little hassle dealing with customer service!

I had a good experience with them on an unrelated repair to a Tomcat years ago. They just sent me a new one. I can deal with a little hassle to get a new gun though.

I have seen some night mares here on THR regarding beretta CS, and in some cases it cost a few bucks to replace it, like if you were not the original owner. I would go to Beretta web site and go to registration page and see if you can register it in your name first. ( warranty card may have not been sent in if you were not original owner perhaps ) just a thought?

The most I have seen paid for replacement is $178.00 and those people got the Inox as a replacement even for the older blue ones, but now they make a new (wide slide ) blue version.

So do you have a thin 1st generation blue and an Inox that is cracked?

Geez! I love these guns, I hate this problem with them because they are a great little package. Beretta dropped the ball by not pulling them back in and giving back out a new & improved version. I think the true problem with the crack is the pivot for the tip up barrel! It is this cross section that is the problem with hotter ammo. It is to thin! they could have done a little engineering and fixed it easily!

Good luck!

I posted this a while ago on the Beretta Forum, but never got a useful response:

"I have a titanium Tomcat with the wide stainless slide, and an older matte black thin slide Tomcat.
If I put the wide stainless slide on the matte Tomcat, will I have the equivalent of the current Inox model? Are there any reasons not to try this?
Will the thin matte slide function properly on the titanium frame? Foreseeable problems?"

Any thoughts here?

I heard about the replacement deal. But I wonder if a cracked frame is going to effect reliebility.

I don't mind paying for service. But I'm the original owner.
