Beretta Tomcat

I see that the Beretta 3032 Tomcat is still listed on the Beretta web site but I don't see any new ones for sale on line or at the local gun stores that I haunt. Does anyone know if Beretta still produces the Tomcat or if it is out of production?
 
My wife has one and I see them quite often offered by higher volume FFLs at gun shows. I think most people just aren't fans of the .32 round, so a lot of smaller dealers don't stock them. It's a fine little firearm, though. They had a problem with cracked frames a long time ago but fixed it. My wife's runs like a clock and the tip up barrel for loading the last round is an added bonus.
 
Funny you noticed that, I did too. They just put on a new web page and it's still listed which is great news. I was told by a tech at Beretta that they just started production on the Tomcat and Bobcat again this month. Both these guns haven't been made for over a year. They were busy with the new Pico trying to get that up and running. I own two Tomcats and love them. Both tomcats are wide slides a black and stainless. Hopefully they will be in gun shops soon, I hope so. Looking for a stainless Bobcat myself.
 
I have shot a few Tomcats - one had finicky habits about ammunition the others were flawless. I have not seen them for sale lately but that has already been explained - they have been out of production. They are/were quite popular here locally and sell well when they are available.

Me? I'm waiting for the Pico and its .32 option. No matter how long it takes.... :cool:

One has been sitting at my local Fleet Farm for months. I have considered buying it for my fiance because she thinks every other center fire I own is too snappy. But it has also been a very long time since I have seen any ammo for it. I havent exactly looked hard, just dont recall seeing it on any shelf. I doubt compoments are available, but maybe?
 
I bought one a year ago. I sold it to a friend. I've been looking for another one ever since. I heard Beretta stopped making them.
 
If they start making them again, I hope they fix the frame cracking problem
The frame cracked on mine and Beretta C/S refused to fix or replace it.
 
My favorite carry firearm was my Tomcat. Mine suffered the now well known frame failure crack right above the trigger. I sent it back to Beretta in in the fall of 2013. They replied two weeks later. The tech said they would not have any Tomcats for a while and would I accept the Nano rather than wait on another Tomcat. He said they were looking further into the frame crack problem and that the original fix for it had not been 100% successful. I am hopeful they will indeed fix and make the Tomcat again. It was a good size for my hand. I never felt under armed carrying it.

For the record, I shot a box of ammo with the Nano. It never jammed and was accurate. I just didn't care for how it fit my hand. I am curious to see how the new R51 feels if I ever see one.
 
Thanks for the update on the Tomcat, I'll keep my eyes open for one in the near future. I had one for several years and it performed flawlessly. I still kick myself for selling it but I was made an offer on it that was too good to pass up and I was raising funds for my next purchase of the latest and greatest new hardware. Its funny, I can't even remember what I bought after selling the Tomcat. I should of kept the Beretta.
 
I have one and it has been flawless. In fact, it is sitting in a pocket holster I just bought today right under my laptop.
 
I've got a Tom Cat, I also have the Bob Cat, I carry the .32 with the Fioche .32 XTP 60 grns XTPHP when I run my dog around the river in the dead heat of the summer wearing sandals and jogging shorts. It beats throwing rocks.
 
I absolutely loved my tomcat, but for the frame crack. I sold it and bought a p32. If they actually fix the frame crack problem, I'd buy another.
 
My wife bought one in 07, and had the frame crack in early 09. We sent it back to Beretta and they sent us a new one. The new has shot well and never jammed. My mother in law bought another and also liked it. No issues with the frame. My wife has since moved on to a LCP, so it's the only gun I have that I consider excess.
 
I'm betting the reason for the Tomcat being discontinued was the vast number of slide/frame failures. They were being reported all over the place once upon a time.
 
My Tomcat was the stainless version supposedly immune to the infamous frame crack. It cracked about 50 rounds into its life. Really wish it had worked out. The gun felt and looked great.
 
Did the frames actually crack or was it the slides? Reason I ask is that I was looking at a used one a few days ago in a LGS.

I mentioned that I had heard about cracking issues with these guns. The store owner showed me the sides of the slide and told me Beretta had made the slides thicker to stop the cracking issue.

Hmmmm....

me thinks Taurus will make their version of the tom cat, without the Beretta frame cracking problems I mean.
 
It was the frames. The Tomcat is a blowback weapon, meaning it depends on the weight of the slide to delay it from going out of battery long enough for the bullet to exit the barrel. The extra slide material adds just enough weight to slow the slide down a hair and prevent it from slamming into the frame as hard and, hopefully, preventing the frame from cracking as it had in past versions. These clearly carry the designation "wide slide".
 
Its been almost 2 years now, the INOX Tomcat is in Beretta's catalog, but when I search for a Tomcat using Gun Watcher or Slick Guns - I can never find one.
 
I had one and disliked it. The trigger was stiff and it was heavy for its size. My P32 is a way better pistol if I want a small 32acp for pocket carry. It's smaller, lighter, has a better trig.ger, and is less expensive
 
I agree with the above post by Tallball.

I would like to carry this P-32 sometimes but my wife won't let me.

The Tomcat has better sights, but anyway, the main question is "Does anyone have any information on where these pistols are ?"

I don't want to buy the old Tomcat model on an auction site, I want the new "Thick Slide" INOX, but I can't find them anywhere.
