I loaded up 50 of these in Starline brass using 2400 powder from 18.4 grains to 19.6 grains in .3 grain increments for testing in my Ruger Superblackhawk.

Given there is no cannelure, I am having second thoughts. I did not flare the case more than a touch, tension seems tight.

Was this a bad idea in your opinion?
If so, will it be a disaster?

I will take my calipers to the range and see if they move.

Throw a slight crimp on them, just enought to straighten the neck back out, but not enought to dig into the plating.

When I load plated in revolver rounds I give them a taper crimp. Neck tension is what you need.

The thing I would worry about is if the bullets can take it. You'll be pushing their limit.

Thanks guys!

According to Lyman 49 I should be under the 1250 fps limit of these bullets in my Ruger, but should not shoot them in a rifle.

I did adjust the die so the bell of the case is gone after seating.

I'll be interested to hear how they do. I bought some .44 caliber 240 Gr Power Bonds to try this with, but never have gotten around to it. I still have some 240 Gr Raniers as well, just never tried it.
