Bersa and Firestorm

hi,

i have searched this and other forums, including "bersatalk," looking for an definitive answer to this.

i know the bersa mini thunder ultra compact 9mm is virtually identical to the mini firestorm 9mm except for some minor cosemtics (trigger guard, grip, backstrap). and that they are manufactured by the same company in argentina.

the oem mags for these pistols are very costly.

i need to know, for sure, if the mags for the the bersa mini thunder ultra compact 9mm and the mini firestorm 9mm are interchangeable?

can anyone tell me absitively, posilutely if they can be used interchangeably in these pistols?

I understand that "Firestorm" is a general brand name under which some Llama and Bersa pistols were and are sold. The Bersa Thunder Ultra Compact and Firestorm Mini are the same pistol.

hey,

i guess i am not a real trusting soul. i have read many times that these 2 are identical, the same pistol and so forth.

but i haven't seen anywhere where someone says the mags are interchangeable.

i guess i want to hear from someone who owns both of them or had one and then the other was able to use the mags from one pistol in the other pistol.

believe me, i've done the due diligent search on this.

no one has stated it one way or the other. the damn mags are $40-$50 each.

and i can't find factory firestorm mags, only bersa.

if the bersa mags do fit the firestorm, i will search around and find the least expensive bersa's i can.

the firestorm mags listed on the manufacturer's website cost more than the bersa mags do on their website.

same pistol/different mag prices by the de facto manufacturer of both of these pistols. it's all very confusing.

Are you as familiar with the Bersa 9mm as you are the .380?

Same gun sold under different name. Mags and every other will swap out. Grips are different but they too will swap out of you want.

$40-50 for a Mag? Ouch! What gives? The gun cost only about $299.

you are the "bersa man" here apparently.

this bersa/firestorm business gets a tad confusing.

i hope this is the last question.

bersa (and i think firestorm) also makes or made full size versions of the above mentioned compacts called Thunder 9 and Firestorm 9, i believe.

10rd mags are also available for these full sized pistols.

will they fit the compacts?

and conversely, they also make 17rd mags for the full sized version(s).

will they function in the compacts (i realize they would protrude)?

Whoa...
I'm not 'the BERSA man' anywhere

Lots of folks here on THR owned BERSA pistols long 'fore I did,
and they assuredly know far more than I could.

As for slapping Thunder mags into MiniThunders...
Never actually tried getting away with that

Can't get to where I rent the pistols for a few weeks, so...
for a definitive answer I suggest you log onto BersaTalk and
scare up a conversation with RAChilders or any of the other
hopelessly-unhinged Berseros there. I learn a lot from 'em.

Firestorm doesn't actually 'make' any firearms, in the fullest sense of the word.
It orders ready-to-assemble pistol kits from BERSA, SA in Argentina.
Its 1911-ish pistols are sourced from the inventory of the late
Fabrinor Arma Corta y Microfusion, SAL of Spain.

Firestorm's 'Commanche' revolvers come from Lasserre SA of Argentina.

I suggest you call Eagle Imports at 732-493-0333 They are the importer of the Bersa and Firestorm. The mags should interchange Is it worth a couple of bucks to find out.

Is there any connection to Llama having the Commanche name on their revolvers in the old days and the newer Argentine ones with the same names? I do believe they are totally different designs though. My Llama Super Commanche 44mag is a decent gun though.

Many different 'Comanche' or 'Commanche' guns made by different companies at different times.
I don't know of a direct connection between the Llamas (under Gabilondo) and the ones out of Argentina, Brazil, etc...
