I recently purchased a new Bersa thunder 380. I have put maybe 400 rounds through the gun, every time I take it shooting, a spring under the right side handguard comes out of place and the trigger ceases to function. It's an insanely easy fix, but it keeps happening. This is the gun I'm planning on carrying when I get my CCW, but I can't trust my life to something that is incredibly prone to failure.

what should I do?

Call Bersa Customer Service at 732-493-0333 and they'll take care of the problem and ship it back to you

I believe that is part of the mag safety, the mag has a notch that pushes that up, to engage the trigger.

I hate mag safeties, I see it as insurance for someone stupid enough to not know a gun can have a chambered round.

You might look into removing the mag safety, I know it can be done on the ruger mark III. So it might be do able on the bersa too.

Good luck with it, a bersa just entered our gun family here too. Ammo is a bit hard to come by now.

I would think if you purchased a new gun and it is malfunctioning calling the manufacturer would be the first step.

I had to send my Bersa 380 to Colorado Gun works for the same problem. I have a 2 Bersas now, one .45ACP and one .40S&W... totally reliable, but the problem you describe is common on a run of their 380s.

My wife's Bersa .380 failed after just 600 rounds. Obviously a manufacturing defect since it's so widespread.

Head on over to bersatalk and search; this has been covered... they'll send you in the right direction
