No cigar, nice day, stayed warm and enjoyed the forest. And of course pigged out on a triple decker turkey sammich. And wow, best coffee in the world is when I stop for my 10:00 break. ! State Land about two miles from me, either sex/any Elk opened yesterday, along with deer, but 3-point minimum.

Saw another hunter with a traditional ML, but he didn't see me so I didn't get to talk to him or check out his rifle. Looked like a pretty nice long-rifle. Did have a nice talk with another hunter.

State land is only about 5,000 acres, and sometimes gets hunted pretty heavily, so it's slim pickings. But if you don't go...you for sure won't see nothing! Also, there's a wildlife refuge very close by, and the Elk herds all go there for the duration of hunting season. Some will wander out once in a while, and that's the hope when hunting the State Land.

Bessie and her little side-kick the '62 say: Thanks for listening!

Tried it again today with the Jeager, no luck. Normally I'd always hunt Elk with the Jeager, but Bessie needed a turn. However, as you know, The Jeager out ranges the Musket by quite a few yards, so it's up to the Jeager now. But again, no cigar, state land is getting hunted a little harder than usual this year. But if I stay home, I'm sure not going to get a shot. !!! And I love just being in the woods. Had another turkey sammich, over-dressed so I was warm and toasty all day, (sometimes too toasty) and the Jeager feels so good in the hand. Not a bad day, cigar or not.
