1st , i'd get old john back from the dead , then i'd hand him 50 of each individual part to choose from (original contract ) and say "build it your way"... :neener: :what: :uhoh:

I'll settle for a Para LTC - I have the SSP and it is accurate and well made.

Although I post that I would get a Singer and sell it for a few 1930's era Colts I do remember seeing a few nice pics from the Dave Sample online class....

But a Tunerized 1911 govt colt would be nice.

Tuner,

"About 1935 should do nicely.
1918 or 1920 would be even nicer."

I would take any of the above for the giving, but if I could pick a 1914/15 Navy Colt would be my first choice. Second or tied would be a depression era National Match, and I am greedy I want the box and all the papers with it.

The one that is tuned for reliability and you carry it everyday. You do not mind if it gets a little caracter marked. You know where it is and at what angle it is sitting at you hip, like you know where your nose is at all time. You can draw and fire it at a target while keeping an eye on what is going on around you.

If you want a pose mobile. Get one that looks the best.

I shall always start with a Colt. Nothing like forged steel.

My Baer was overpriced about 100% and very accurate but had a crappy magazine they never did fix, and the "Baer Coat" finish is way way soft. My Colts were good, 'cept for the defective spring plug in the Officer's ACP, but I wouldn't call them the best by any means. Next one will likely be an Ed Brown or a Smith Sc.

Singer
Remington Rand

Of course it would be kind of neat to have an OLD Gov't Model , gone over - parts fought over ( like original triggers) by Tuner and Old Fuff. Yeah I want about 4 dozen of the USGI mags and a couple cases of issued hardball too.

Got to have the laynard of course and flap holster with Gov't issuse FM to read.

I'm not picky now am I ? :D

1911

Wilson Combat Tactical Super Grade. You may find one somewhere just as good (I doubt it) but you won't find one better!

I've owned a bunch. Prefer those that accept standard 1911 parts, so no GSR for me. And as my TRP never fed a complete mag of factory ball without choking, and my LongSlide shoots 12" at 25 yards on a good day, I'll pass on SA.

I'll stick with Valtro, followed by an Ed Brown (pick one).

S.A. Mil-Spec the Yost is building for me and the R.R.A. I have on order.
I dream of a new series 70 reissue 10mm Delta Elite.

The new Colt series 70 "stainless steel" retro. Just purchased and it's "simply marvelous!" A nice two-tone hard chrome (after basic mods) from Tripp Research will immortalize it.

My Rock River Limited Match will outshoot all of my other (25 - 30) 1911s.

The runner ups would be Les Baer and STI.

If John Jardine ever starts making guns which don't take a couple of years to receive, I will pick up one or two Valtros.

IF I wanted something a little lighter and fun and cheap to shoot you got to go along way to beat the STI Trojan in 9MM. Hi cap fan? Go with the Para 9MM - you can shoot it until you get tired then reload!

I've run the full gamut of the larger factory 1911A1s. I am going to skip semi-custom and someday get a full custom by an artist, even if I have to wait six years.

Anyways, the Tactical Fairy can keep her:

Ski slope sights
Fiber optics
Adjustable rear sights
Cursive script roll marks
Front slide serrations
MIM
Foreign clones of the American combat handgun icon.
SIG mutation
Firing pin safeties
Internal locking systems
Schwartz safeties

Guess I'd get another Colt. Everything else is just some degree of ugly clone.

Out of the box: Wilson Combat CQB or Les Baer TRS. While I had two malfunctions in the first 200 rounds with my TRS (no malfunctions in the following 900 rounds), my WC CQB has never had a malfunction, it's been perfect.

Otherwise I'd take a Series 70 repro and let Terry Tussey rebuild it. If Tussey was too busy (he often is), Ted Yost is a bit closer and also does a great job with his 1*
