I came accross a great condition, SP101 357 3" at a pawn shop that i couldnt pass up.

Its my first revolver.

I currently CCW a kahr CM9 and a M&P45 compact.

I plan to add the 357 to the rotation.

What are some suggestions for carry rounds and a comfortable CCW holster?
(I was planning on just getting another Crossbreed, but am open to suggestions)

I usually carry corbon dpx in my other pistols, but
After looking at the specs on the +P 38 from Buffalo Bore, i may carry that vs a 357' due to flash and bang indoors.

I would carry 357 for woods / hunting carry

Thoughts?

To me that sounds like an awesome plan. I spend more time figuring out how to carry the speedloader, than the gun.

I would suggest getting at least one, a speedloader that is. Speedstrips are pretty popular too, especially for concealment.

For holsters I've always preferred a belt slide or Texas Yaqui style, to me you can conceal anything from a sub-compact to a full size 1911. As for ammo, up until a few weeks ago I was carrying Hornaday in every gun and rifle I own, but after a personal failure with their ammo and several threads of research on this forum, I'll probably switch back to Corbon or Winchester. The .38 +P in the .357 is a good idea.

Good plan on the ammo. That's more or less what I do, but with Hornady CD. 110 gr +P ammo in cities. 125 gr CD .357 mags in rural towns. Speer 158 gr. .357's get loaded in the woods.

How are you going to carry the gun? I carry my 3" SP101 IWB in a Galco holster. It works fine, but if you don't have a lot of meat on your hips, you'll be a little sore after a day of carry with the Galco. I'm looking at a Crossbreed for that reason. I've lost 49 lbs. since I started using that carry rig, so circumstances have changed for me. Just to give you an idea, I'm 6'3" and 194 lbs. If you are meatier than I, a cheaper holster may work fine.

Also, check out Badger Custom Gun Grips, and FYI, Mother's Mag Polish does wonders to the finish on an SP101. I imagine a used gun could use a little shining up. Here is mine after about 16 hours of hand polishing in front of the TV in the evenings after work.

Congrats on buying a great gun. I'll never sell mine. It was my first handgun, and it is my go to carry piece.

Where's your pics man?
