"Does anyone make a .380 "ball in the end" hollowpoint? Of course then you're looking at a lighter round, which will have a louder report/sharper recoil impulse... Not good with small boomstick in a small area"

Bogie, I'm still trying to figure out how you meant that. Why would recoil be sharper with a lighter load? And louder? Isn't the pressure the same? You have confuzzed me. See how easy that was?

I kinda wondered what was meant, too, but I thought it was just my lack of coffee, so I let it go.

what does everyone thing of federal hydra shocks?

I have an LCP, and spent a little testing so far Hydra-Shok JHPs (not much put box of 20 through it so far and wouldn't call it scientifically valid - they aren't exactly cheap but its worth it to me to test before I considered carrying it with the ammo) and run-of-the-mill FMJ's.

I've found so far that in my case the Hydra-Shok's didn't jam once (rapid fire, hit the torso don't care where too much style, just to try and cause a jam), but actually had a couple out of 50 on average so far (same style as above just to test the ammo) with round-nosed FMJ's. On the FMJ rounds, the mark on the bullet was smack dab across the middle of the bullet.

Note that 20 rounds != 50 rounds, 'tis a bad comparison at this point. The statistics is not exactly on solid ground.

In general (not LCP specific) and not something I've been able to find in local stores, if you can find Glaser PowrBall .380ACP's they're supposed to address the clogging issues and are supposed to expand consistently well.

I use Federal Hydra-shok exclusively and am very satisfied and confident in them. I also use them in my 9mm and my 38. The law enforcement version is as reliable and less expensive than the civilian version. (available from ammunitiontogo.com)

I use Buffalo bore in mine. They kick more - but then they hit harder.

I shoot Winchester White Box at the range, but use a clip or two of Buffalo Bore each visit. I find that with my Sig I have no problem keeping the White Box “in the circle.” When I use the Buffalo Bore, It always hits a little higher (makes sense,) but I usually pull one or two about 5" or so. My buddy says it’s not me, but rather inconsistent loads … I don’t know, but that’s no B.S.

Oh I did shoot a box of Cor Bons ... my Sig liked it.

With .380 lack of penetration is your biggest worry. Hence I opt for the heaviest bullet I can get, the 102gr Golden Saber, and hope it don't expand too much.

The Santa Barbara TCMJ is about the hottest .380 out there if you can find it. It has more velocity to make up for the lighter weight.

I use winchester le ranger t-series in my lcp. I have done the water jug test with them and out of all 5 rounds each one pen at least 2 jugs with 100% exp

am wandering what the hottest most accurate best expanding .380 auto ammo is right now with the exeption of Speer Gold Dots becuase I am already running them and want to do balistics tests. NO BS please!
...

I would suggest getting Sig P232 SL to handle the big loads..

I just sold mine to a fellow (DW) for just that reason.. all stainless steel and will last him lifetime..

No BS :)
