Currently trying to make a decision between the Kel Tec p3at, Ruger LCP, MR Micro DE..looking for any input. lots of pros and cons with all.

I own a P3AT and MDE the Micro is heavy compared to the P3AT. I carry the P3AT I haven't had much experience with the LCP.

Micro Eagle

I tried out the LCP, Kel-Tec, NAA Guardian and Desert Micro Eagle.

I settled on the Desert Micro Eagle. It is now my summer carry.

I little more cash than the LCP or Kel-Tec, but it is all metal and clearly built to last.

I have about 300 rounds through it so I consider it "broken in", which is probably more rounds than most put through a pocket rocket.

Shoots well, feels very good in my hand.

Kick is very managable, maybe due to the few extra ounces?

I had a problem with it feeding Blazer, but everything else has worked well. Blazer has been the only brand I have had problems with in my G-30 and XD-45, all due to out of spec rounds. Don't like it, JMO.

I've had 2 P-3ATs and even after (expensive) trips back to Cocoa Beach they were both complete and absolute junk.

When the LCP came out I grabbed one and have carried it ever since.

Zero malfunctions right out of the box from day 1, an absolutely superb pocket piece.

I have both the Ruger LCP and Kel-Tec and prefer the LCP. It just feels better to me - when I can get 380 ammo to shoot it - and has a better finish. The Ruger lives on my hip the Kel-Tec hides in the car. Both are full of JHP-XTP. And, yes the Ruger went back to mama for a checkup and came back polished, pretty and feeding smooth as glass.

FMOfarO:

Hard to find the "best of anything" as personal preferences are subjective to each individual.. For me, in a mousegun, there is no doubt the LWS380 is the "best of the best", but what works for me might not be right for the next person..

Try and hold and if possible shoot any pistol you are interested in and then make a decision based on what YOU like.

IF YOU are pleased with your choice that's all that matters.

No offense,

Jesse

Kahr P380

I have the Kahr P380 and an LCP. The Kahr is a far superior gun. The Kahr is much more expensive but the superior quality is quite apparent. Of course the old saying goes, you get what you paid for.

The only other gun that I might consider over the Kahr P380 is the new Sig. I haven't actually been able to see one of these in person yet so will hold final judgement on that one.

I'm a pretty big Sig fan, but just don't understand why they elected to make the new 380cal. Sig a single action... :what:

Just personal opinion but I think in a small caliber self defense weapon it's easier to just "point and shoot", even having a heavier DA trigger pull, than having to worry about the complications of a "cock n' lock" choice.. The importance of a DA first round (or all rounds) in such a situation is even more critical for lefty's (I am one).. I don't even know if the new 380cal Sig has ambi-safeties?

Just personal opinion, no offense to Sig lovers. :):)

For $300. get the lcp. They work just fine and accuracy is well beyond what one would expect from a pocket pistol. I have not seen a karh and the seecamp, while a fine pistol is just too heavy.

Weight difference between Kahr P380 and LCP

The actual weight difference between the Kahr P380 and LCP is minimal. The Kahr is slightly heavier (9.97 oz unloaded) than the LCP (9.4 oz unloaded). You're not going to notice .57 oz. It just boils down to funds. If you have the funds and want a better product buy the Kahr. If funds are a problem, the LCP is a good gun and will do just fine for a CCW.

Although accuracy is great and recoil minimal my new LCP is on it's way back Ruger as It will not fire more than 2 in a row with out feeding problems. I was going to polish it up myself but dealer advised against it. Hope I get it back quickly as I really like this one.

Wait until the little Sig P238 comes out. I've seen one and I was very impressed with it. ;)

In fact, Sig's website is offering a new addition to the P238 family. This one sports very sharp looking rosewood grips.
