Best .40 for carry?

I carry a Glock27 either as a 40s&w or as a 357sig. I shoot both really well. I have fallen in love with the 357sig round. I get a kick out of shooting it. I noticed another member said the Sigma from S&W was a good choice as well. I've owned a Sigma 40ve for over 2 years now and like it a lot. It is 100% reliable, feels really good in my hand & is a lot cheaper than a Glock. I wouldn't have a problem carrying my Sigma for PD. It's that good of a gun. :)uhoh:OK, there is that trigger thing.)

Best 40 carry???

I'm not sure of which may be the best since I haven't tried them all. So all I can say is that if I'm feeling like I want a 45ACP the Glock 30 with the "Clip Draw" spring steel in the waist band clip is excellent!
I do NOT feel that Glocks are the "2X4" or "THICK AS A BRICK" PISTOLS that some may express. In fact the Glock 30 with 10+1 rounds of 45ACP is an incredibly powerful, accurate out of the box, small easily concealable option.

If I'm thinking 9MM a Glock 19 is perfect for me that is.

Some say they're nothing but plastic junk. Well I'm not going to get into that argument. But I do not feel they are plastic, they're polymer, somewhat different than plastic pens or water bottles. And the two models I mentioned feel great in my hands.

BUT of course there are other just as good and probably better suited to your needs, pistols available. So making a choice can be difficult. But if you buy a quality firearm, practice with it regularly and know the gun chances are you will not be dissapointed. In fact you'll end up with numerous pistols if you're like most of us on THR.

I have a P2000 .40 V2, USP .40C, P30S, and a P2000sk .40 V2.

My EDC is the HK P2000sk.

I would suggest the P2000sk. Soft shooting, accurate, great ergonomics, and 100% reliable.

Another vote for the Glock 23. I carry my G23 RTF2 every day and have had no issues concealing it. I carry it in a Comp-tac M-TAC.

My EDC is an S40 (not an A1) and I love it ... I love it enough that I've tried replacing it and have not found a gun I like as much.

Until recently Steyr wasn't importing handguns into the US and they still aren't bringing a lot of them in.

If you can find one they're great guns ... but I doubt you're going to find an S40A1 for only $400 (and probably not a pre-A1 S40 either) I believe they're going for about $600 right now.
Love the S40..... HATE the S-A1's. That rail makes the gun ridiculously large for a carry gun.

G27 is my pick. I have one .40 that is my EDC. It goes everywhere with me. It shares duty with my G29. I do have a DB380 that I did carry but with my new holster, I can carry my G27 everwhere the 380 went. The only other option in there would be the M&P 40c. I like my M&P 9c. With the interchangeable grip, it fits my smaller sized hands better than the G27. I sent my Glock to Coldbore Customs to have a grip reduction and carry texture added. Now the G27 is back on top of the carry list.

I just picked up a Taurus slim 40 yesterday. Nice weight and size, it sure had a to of lube inside it. Anyone else experience this excessive lube grease all over. Also the mag release is hard to use, it is almost flat to the frame. It was a last minute deal at the gun show, and I traded a revolver for it straight up. I like the gun, but the mag release is a bit bothersome.

I think the assumtion is it'll be CCW'd & the mag release needs to be resistant to being accidentally released. I ride offroad & have had to point out to a buddy that his mag was gone. He used extended release buttons & the holster had pushed it for him...
