I just ordered a new VEPR 7.63x39 rifle and want some advice on ammo. My understanding is that Wolf ammo is both inexpensive and works great in AKs. There are several different flavors, however, and I was wondering if anyone here has experience with what the VEPR likes.

Every gun likes a different flavor , my vepr likes Brown Bear soft point, halves the group size over wolf. It is a 2-3 moa gun if I do my part. Do yourself a favor and buy a PK AS black dot / red dot sight- a really first class optic, about $200.

The new VEPR rifles take SAIGA mags instead of standard AK mags, so I'm probably going to stock up on those before I buy optics. I bought two with the gun, but I want some backups in case they get banned and I can't get more.

The Wolf HP ammo seems to do well in mine. 2 to 3 MOA easily with the iron sights. I have had less luck with the Silver Bear HP I bought. No experience with the soft point or FMJ. When I got my Vepr, HP was mostly all there was and that is what I ended up buying at first.

Most AKs will feed pretty much anything. Wolf happens to be cheapest so that's what mine gets. :D

I have been buying the Wolf Military Classic FMJ lately since I found some at a good price.

Lately....

any ammo that you can find will work ok.......supply is thin and getting expensive......chris3

I just bought a case of Golden Tiger FMJ for $168.50/incl. shipping and age verification. That's less than 17 cents per round.

I've seen the AIM stuff, but of course ammo-connection doesn't sell to people in PRCA. :D

Thanks,
Justin
