Best 9mm 1911?

My first 9mm 1911 was a Rock Island GI, came across one at a gun show NIB and got it cheap with a cash offer. not super accurate but it was a GI, not a TAC II. Cheap fun. Only ran Checkmate mags cause they were cheapest and they worked.
Recently bought my first Kimber, a 9mm Stainless II. Haven't tried any hollow points or SD rounds but seems to group 124 gr NATO the best. No malfunctions using factory mags, Mec Gars, Metalforms, Chips or Wilsons.
Been pleasantly surprised with the Kimber, expected a fussy break in period and it's been flawless from round one, although she does not group Blazer brass 115gr. well, which has always been my go to for cheap range ammo.

I’m not a fan of the external extractor. I have at least one, a 45 ACP 1911. The extractor works but not simple to remove.

I like the internal extractor. Easy to remove and adjust, not very expensive.

I have a Colt Government Model and a Colt Gold Cup chambered in 9x19. Both have been reliable but have not had many rounds through them.

Not sure they qualify, but my Springfield EMPs (I have both 3" and 4") have been excellent.

I'm in complete agreement. This my SA Ronin EMP 4" (pictured next to my SA Hellcat). I'm very impressed that SA scaled down the full size 1911. I think it's a perfect fit for the 9mm
cartridge. Spot on accurate and no issues with it. Ronin Hellcat range time.jpg

Listen to what others have said - Send it back to S&W they have fixed anything I have ever sent back to them and properly. The most trouble free 9 mm I have is my S&W 929 PC revolver it just never fails.

Here for 9mm I went Sig. Have a smith E series .45 bob tail and for what it cost its just a looks nice vs my garrison springer. It has the most nasty trigger pull of any of my 1911 guns.
