I purchased a Yugo mauser 24/47 about 3 years ago and have added a scope mount, glass bedded the action, and added a new Redfield scope

I shot this weekend and was able to get groups of 1.5 to 2 inches at 100, and
about 4 inches at 200 yds

This accuracy is more than good enough for the mean old texas pigs, and the 8mm round rolls them up well

Should I expect to get 1 moa from this rifle?

Is there a trigger mod that can be done to improve my accuracy?

The only thing I would try beyond what you've done is install a Bold or Timney trigger. But I suspect you've got all the accuracy out of that rifle that it's capable of, short of rebarreling and blueprinting.

I'd say that's very good accuracy for your Mauser. If you want a simpler accuracy boost, take up reloading.

2 MOA or less is pretty darned good for a surplus service rifle, and as you note, it's better than a minute of swine. I'd call it good enough.

I'd say that is excellent accuracy for a Surplus rifle but you would more than likely see some tighter groups with Hand-Loading & installing a Timney or Huber trigger.

The only thing you could do to improve on the excellent accuracy your rifle is getting is handload. I don't believe a different trigger will make much difference since you seem to handle yours well now. Not worth it to install a trigger on your rifle that costs more than the rifle for limited results.....I get better accuracy out of some of my Mosin Nagants and you all know how their triggers are.....chris3

I have a german Mauser K98k, should I be able to get groups this good without handloading? What scope mount do you have? or is it just drilled and tapped? Thanks for starting a thread that was so easy to steal, er, borrow.

I have seen a few new retail rifles that did not shoot as well as yours. Just changing the type of ammo you are using might be an improvement. Do the easy stuff first.

These groups are with handloading the ammo.

(My friend had an 8mm die)

We tried several combinations, and this was the best

Is there any work I can do myself on the trigger?
