My vote is for the Glock 26.
Though I don't have the pants with large enough pockets to pocket carry it many claim to do so. It will accept any double stack 9 millimeter magazine in the Glock family. Small enough and light enough to carry inside the waistband or outside the waistband. It's in a caliber that is largely supported by the military and police and can function in all seasons in all capacities. It is simple to operate and recoil shy friendly. Plenty of aftermarket support as well as oem parts out there. Ammunition is readily available and not very costly. None of this has to do with tradition or sentiment or emotional attachment....
Well that's just my part of it, what say you on this gun or your choice?

My money went towards my Glock 19 sized CZ75D PCR many moons ago. An old school DA/SA hammer fired pistola with a quiet decocker. It came with 14-round mags but can take longer CZ75 mags.

If I had to start over, I'd really lean to something with a slide cut for a red dot.

Yes
I go a step further and only carry DAO, no safety, plastic fantastics with a hammer that can be thumbed during re-holstering, no de-cocker needed.
In my opinion, that's the safest/simplest setup for draw-fire-re-holster practice and carry.
A somewhat hard-to-find setup, but they are out there as well as HKs with lem triggers, hidden in the sea of striker fired Glock clones.
I have never found a DAO/long pull/heavy trigger to be a hindrance for a carry gun.

I like the small nines for carry but the title says, "Best all reason-all season semi-auto". For that of what I have it would be my M&P 2.0 40 Compact 4". Basically G-19 sized, 40 caliber decent capacity, & slightly more power than a 9. Small enough to conceal. Large enough to be easier to shoot well.

Makes me think of this spurless hammer Beretta at a local shop.
 
I think the 26 is the most versatile Glock, and would be my "if you could only have one" gun, but other than rare instances, I see it as a BUG to the 17 I carry on a daily basis.

I dont pocket carry but the 26 will easily go into an ankle holster, or better yet, a Smart Carry.
 
The smallest 9 I have is a Shield 🛡 9. Two 8 round mags and a 7. Seems to be enough ammo and easy to carry. I also keep a J-Frame and a reload in my pocket. I have a Glock 26 with a bunch of various size mags but , I’m really not sure if I need all that. Actually I’m sitting here comparing the Two. The Glock with 13 rounds (pictured) is only a little wider and a little heavier than the Shield. I’m having a hard time deciding. The Glock has better sights. It is a good choice for all the reasons you listed. In fact, many of the customers at the LGS where I work, have chosen to purchase a Glock 26 for the reasons you list.
 
I'll buck the trend. The topic states best all reason... but seems like everyone is going for EDC/SD and ignoring other reasons to carry. Since I live in bear country and spend a lot of time outdoors, I'll suggest something in 357 Sig or 10mm. Both will do SD/EDC and predator defense as well, but they will do predator defense better than the 9mm offerings stated thus far. Pick your model of gun according to your preference; they're all about the same anyway. The only drawback I see here is that these calibers won't be easy to shoot in a subcompact, thus EDC might be a challenge.
 
Under a 10 round limit the Glock 26 is okay as is the Sig 365 - and the Sig 365 is more pocket friendly.
If I were under a 10 round limit (thankfully I'm not) the Sig 365 would work if pocket carry was desired.

Since I'm not under a 10 round limit, Glock 19/23/32 with a grip long enough to accommodate my fingers, barely; or even better a 17/22 which fits my hand better.
A Glock 17 or 19 is not going to fit in a pocket but that is okay; the Glock 17/19 will be carried on belt AIWB.
Oh no, we can't put or hand on that pistol on belt without revealing we are carrying...

Well then, lets put a 2nd gun in our pocket. But... CDW4ME, I don't live in a "war zone"🙄 or Mogadishu 🙄 - Neither do I.
The 2nd pistol in pocket affords the options to put hand on it without revealing you are carrying and/or quick access with weak hand.
The 2nd pistol is not about anticipated threat, it is about options and those options are valid wherever.
So, if we had to pick just one semiauto (under a 10 round limit) the Sig 365 could work on belt and pocket; Yea, two of them and the 2nd is not about threat/risk its options.

Just a pistol in dominant hand pocket? If dominant hand is injured or unavailable, attempting to draw from dominant hand pocket with weak hand will be laughably and maybe fatally slow. 🫣

Probably the Sig P226 for the 357 Sig and/or the Sig P220 for the 10mm. There really isn't a lot to choose from in those calibers, but given my preference for hammer-fired, DA/SA type guns, and my dislike of Glock, those are about all the choices I have.

This topic has made me realize that it's good not to be limited to "one gun" because neither of those are ideal.
 
For me the best All Reason/All Season semi-auto would be either my SIG P365X or else my S&W M&P Shield Plus. Both have great concealability with IWB/OWB/Pocket Carry possibilities, well designed ergonomics, really nice triggers and sights, and chambered for the ubiquitous 9mm cartridge; along with high capacity magazine availability.

All of this backed up by two established firearms manufacturer in terms of factory support, coupled with a very large aftermarket selection for accessories and parts.
