Best and worst bulk 22LR

I won’t buy Thunderduds, hesitate on Golden Bullets. As far as normal boxed ammo, I think CCI, both standard velocity and Mini-Mags, leads the pack.

Are people here mixing up bulk and boxed, I’ve never seen CCI in bulk form, or am I just missing something?

WHAT!
I love it for an Uzi .22 conversion.

My last experience with Thunderbolt was some years ago. It leaded my barrel to the point of causing keyholes.

Nobody speaks well of Remington Golden Bullets, but a friend gave me some; it was probably not sufficiently accurate in his fine .22 rifles. But it has been surefire in pistols and as accurate as I can hold a plinker.

Does bulk preclude it being boxed?

I just bought 1600 rounds of Federal "Black" bulk ammo; great stuff; I suspect it is the same as their American Eagle, but can't say for sure. Stuff works in every .22 rifle and pistol I have.
I had good results with these as well.

I agree with every brand you have listed...except for the Remington Golden Bullet.

Best for me and my guns is still Wolf Match Target, CCI MiniMags, and CCI Standard Velocity.

But are those sold in bulk, the original premise of the thread?

If we go strictly by bulk pack then the best I tried was SK Magazine. But that's a long way off from RWS Target Rifle.

You're right...I was thinking more like when I have bought Wolf and CCI ammo in bulk quantities.

If going with bulk ammo (as in hundreds of rounds in one container), then I would have to say Federal Automatch would be my conditional best. Still some duds with them but nowhere near as many as Remington and Winchester bulk packs.

CCI used to come in bulk, but have not seen it in a while. I have given up on most bulk to tell youthe truth. Seems I get a huge amount of misfires and jams with all bulk brands. And part of it is quite a number of my 22’s now seem optimized for 22 High Velocity cartridges. Including my GSG 1911 22’s and My Mannlicher style bull barreled 10/22. No jams with HV, but jams aplenty with bulk 22 ammo.

I just yesterday saw blazer in 525 bulk pack... so its back in the running!
I also had some old mini mags in plastic 250 rd boxes... kinda bulk packed!

Blazer . Ive gotten it at about $17 a brick, and seen (but missed :( ) it at 12 and change after rebate. Sure woulda liked to stock up some bricks at that price!
Depends upon how old you are whether you will ever see the rebate. That stuff is slow.

Which is worse...…..Remccichesteruila or peoples understanding of what "bulk pack" means?
From the replies just on the first page, many don't know what is meant by "bulk pack".

"Bulk pack" has traditionally been a term for loose ammunition in a box or can, almost always in a quantity of more than 100 rounds (whether rimfire or centerfire)
The exact OPPOSITE of bulk pack is packaging like CCI Mini mags in a 100 round box with each round separated to prevent damage or deformation in handling.

Worst is Thunderbolt, by a mile.

Best I’ve found for my particular use is this Federal.

You can get a pile of duds from Remington Golden bullets or you can get a good box. Seems like gambling ought to be sequestered to the casinos instead of the gun ranges. Each box of Remington ought to include a pair of dice as the ammo is a crap shoot.

That blue box fed was junk. Wouldnt reliably cycle any autos and had several FTF. Or was it the red box? Hmmm... well, I wasnt impressed with either to tell the truth.

I understand that " bulk pack" technically refers to loose boxes but in reality what is generally ment is big inexpensive boxes... if the ammo is packed in little boxes of 50 then all the better. Best bang for the buck yeah?

Since most .22lr are finicky, it would be informative to know what firearms folks are using.

I've found my Ruger 10/22 and my Advantage Arms Glock conversion like bulk CCI Blazer 500 rnd, and Remington Golden 525 rnd all day.

Lots of stuck cases with most Federal bulk, except Federal Automatch, they gave me a lot of FTE, but were pretty accurate and consistent.
No luck with any Winchester bulk.

Not bulk, but in general: CCI Mini Mags in 40 gr or CCI Standard Velocity run well. Tried various flavors of Aguila but never found it to be very accurate.

FED750 (red box, 5500ct, primarily sold at WalMart originally)
FED745 (blue box, 5250ct, retail everywhere else)
FED725 (gold box, 325ct, retail but frequently multi-packed)
FED787 (the BYOB bucket, 1100ct, retail)
788BF (the "black pack", 1600ct, which interestingly have white boxes inside)

These are, as far as I can tell, the exact same ammo; all are CPHP, 1260 ft lbs, 127 fps.

It is mostly going to depend on the individual guns it is fired in. My favorite is Remington Golden Bullet HP's. They expand and work very well on game. Federal is very good for plinking but they don't have a functioning hollow point. The only .22LR bulk I avoid is Winchester X-pert.
