Best Bullet Placement for a Quick Kill On a Brown Bear

Say you've got time for a slow, controlled, close shot on a big Brown Bear.
Which would be better, right btw the eyes or just under the ear? (Supposing the bear is slowly moving his head to the side and then forward giving you either option.) And oh, we're talking about a caliber that starts with .45 with at least a 300 grain bullet, hard cast and substantial meplat.

Wouldn't be a head shot. Never is in my opinion. Broadside through the shoulders to anchor for a follow up, or a well placed heart and lungs shot and do some tracking.

Yes, aware that most will say this...and it is the easiest bigger shot to take. But then you have to wait for 30 minutes.
Reminds me of a Larry Cable Guy joke...he was asked to put a horse out of its misery because of a broken leg, so Larry went out and shot it. He's not the most capable hunter. Now he said the horse has a broken leg and a gun shot wound.
Course in slaughter houses, they shoot pigs, hogs, cows somewhere in the head.

I've killed a cow with a .22 Mag. to the head, but I don't think I'd want to try it on a brown bear.....

Not under the ear, right behind low, where the spine meets the skull. Forget facing head shots.

I only know of one Grizz shooting with a handgun that was 100% successful. In every case I personally have heard of or read about the shooter was badly wounded. But then that is my experience and maybe very limited.

I think bear threads should have their own section on the forum.
They seem to be about 50% speculation, 30% real experience and 20% talking out their arse but they are usually interesting and always entertaining.
I would suggest the OP take on his endeavor as though he were bow hunting and take in all the same conditions of practice, distance, point of aim and danger.
