"best" dies ?

I have Lee for all my auto pistols.
I have Hornady and RCBS for my rifle calibers.

I do like the way Hornady dies are made with the sleeve for alignment when seating a bullet.

RCBS, I don't know. I just like them. Never had a problem with them.
LEE, There worth there money if you ask me. Just get them in Carbide

I love lee dies, and most of the things lee makes.

The 45ACP dies were an exception.

After two days of attempting to get them to work, I exchanged them for an RCBS set...which work great.

I agree for the most part. I have a lot of Lee equipment and like most of it. However, like blarby, I also had problems with my 45ACP dies, so I replaced them with an older set of Pacific Durachrome dies which work great.

The only piece of Lee equipment that I thought was substandard was their "Zip Trim" case trimmer. To me, it seems to be a flimsy, useless gimmick.

I will confess I don't know much about benchrest but this is news to me. What do they use?

Many benchrest shooters use an arbor press, and the die normally used is made by Wilson.

They seem to swear by this combination. I'm just getting into BR shooting, and I've been loading up on the equipment and reading about it constantly. I have the rifle, and the dies, Redding, just need to find the time to actually shoot the rifle.

I mix and match dies.

Replaced Lee sizers with RCBS
Hornady Seater (Not a fan of their sizing die)
RCBS, Redding or Hornady taper crimp dies.

Use the Hornady PTX for belling in calibers I reload.
