The best........

Wilson Combat, Ed brown, Nighthawk, Korth....to name a few, however, I don't believe in the idea that there is a best per say. Unless I consider the best to be the one that functions flawlessly, has the least amount of recoil and is accurate in my hand. The one we have on hand, obviously, is the best. My favorite firearm ? No, my favorite caliber........the .45

By best firearms maker i'd assume you mean all their products are top shelf.Springfield Armory has great rifles and superb pistols with lifetime warranties and great customer service. If they were to add a nice defensive shotgun they'd be unstoppable as a one stop defensive firearms maker.

i like many of guns mentioned but the makers have not been true to the market, such as sig. they used to be my favorite but the funny stuff ive seen them pull lately makes not want to own one. They have given a big F-U to the market.
Kimber has been having some quality issues lately as well. For a ccw i would pick a cheap kel-tec p-3at, their cheap+ effective. For assault i pick the ptr-91 in any variation or DPMS ap4. For standard sidearms a springfield MC operator.
For a precision rifle i would pick a savage 10fple series model, they are highly accurate out of box, and pretty cheap. I picked these particular guns because of what you get for the price, i can sit here all day and name off better much higher priced guns but the ones i pick do the job without trading in a kidney for them.
