Best gun for a vampire?

They didn't mention if the guy lived or not, presumably he didn't. You guys ever seen the japanamation Hellsing? There's a vampire that hunts other vampires with a semi auto .454 Casull, it's huge hehe. Incidentally, there's a lot of cool gun play in it.

Some will say that this is just another example of why guns should be banned.

I say this is another example of why our rights to defend ourselves must be protected.

It's sad to live in a world where people will defend the rights of criminals to commit crime without fear of retrobution from law-abiding citizens.

I hope the victim lives and the shooter gets a shrink who won't give him a get-out-of-jail card when the compentancy hearing comes up.

remember reading a novel were they used a Desert Eagle .357 with silver JHP's.

Wouldn't that be for warewolves?

Haven't any of you guys seen Underworld. The best is the new Confidentail tracer rounds developed by the govt'. Ya know, the ones that actually have sunlight embedded into the bullet.:D

Seriously, this is a tragedy. The article listed the vampire in criticle condition. I hope he pulls through. I also hope the idiot vampire slayer getts a nice home in a padded room.:fire:

Never mind the vampires. Look out for the kooks who think they're vampire slayers. :uhoh: Like Larry_Minn, I wish the pizza dude a speedy recovery.:(

Sigh!:( Vampires? This guy is a candidate for the rubber room brigade for sure. Why couldn't he just hold a cross up in front of the "vampire" or hit him with a sock full of garlic. Boy! The anti's are gonna have a field day with this one!:banghead:

Why didn't he try the old standby of a super soaker filled with holy water?

"Born again christian" I thought most waited until they were on death row to convert. This is a welfare case. The USA needs to build more boobyhatches.

Three words: Laurell. K. Hamilton. Her Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels are a stunning Urban Fantasy series concerning a way-hot Vampire Hunter/Necromancer chick packing some serious weaponry. Gun stuff not incredibly factual, but fairly close. Great escapist reading.

The coolest occult/horror movie gunplay I remember was in the movie The Howling.

"Bright Boy" gets some .30-06 silver cartridges from a local occult store to combat a legion of deadly werewolves. He even fires them from a bolt-action rifle! Quite neat. Underworld's gunplay was truly ridiculous though (circle shooting scene was the biggest offender, but let's not forget the infinite clips on those full-auto P99s :) ).

Back on topic:

I don't know if that guy was insane. If he was, he was criminally insane. They should lock him up either way.

Didn't that "vampire hunter" realize that Vampires don't work at pizza places. There is garlic everywhere!!

I thought everyone knew that!!

Anyone ever see "Ultraviolet" (a Brit TV series about vampires and an anti-vampire special-forces unit)?

They used graphite bullets (high-tech alternative to a wooden stake through the heart). Caused the vamps (always refered to as "Code V", pronounced "Code 5") to spotaneously compust quite spectacularly.

Theire guns also had mini TV-cmaeras/LCD displays as sights: vamps don't show up on tv etc, any more than in mirrors, so you could tell if the person you were aiming at was a vamp or not.

If it wasn't a gun, it would have been a sword, or a knife, or a baseball bat, or something. The people saying that 'no one should need a gun' cannot come to realize that there is ALWAYS someone who doesn't play by your rules out there. A 'vampire hunter' cannot be reasoned with, and if he decides to go after someone, it's up to a person to defend him/herself then and there, no time to call 911 (besides, the pizza delivery is probably faster than the 911 response).

Why can people not see that people need to be able to take responsibility for their own actions? Let the terrororist/psycho/tweaker/other non-reasoning creature have their way, and many suffer. Planes run into buildings, people get killed over $5, guy gets shot for having a pale complexion, all helplessly thanks to our country telling everyone to let someone else handle it, you're not competent.

If he were a fan of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, I think it's more likely he would have tried to have intercourse with the Vampire rather than shooting it... She kind of does that a lot.
Back in college, I had a classmate who went to one of those vampire theme bars in NYC and interviewed a bunch of the "vampires" for a religion paper. They mostly insisted that they could be shot, stabbed, and so on with no ill effects, but of course there wasn't much chance of anyone challenging them to prove it. Any info on whether the victim was actively trying to make the nut think he was a vampire?

You would think that they would be brave enough to try, especially after several Bloody Mary's...

Since we're engaging in day dreaming here, does anyone know if it's actually physically possible to make a silver bullet?

I remember that episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker where he melts silver on a cruise ship (!) to put into revolver bullets. I suspect that a totally silver bullet is impractical (imagine the fouling :) ), but some silver inside the bullet would probably do the trick.

Anyone ever see "Ultraviolet" (a Brit TV series about vampires and an anti-vampire special-forces unit)?

I own this on DVD. Quite an interesting series, with some fascinating anti-government paranoia that's all the more surprising since this is a UK series.

I suspect a fully-auto MP5 armed with graphite hollowpoints would be a vampire's worst nightmare, though as the TV series points out, penetration would be lousy (bulletproof vest worn by one of the vamps if I recall).

I am a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan myself... but geez I know how to draw the line between fantasy and what's real.

besides, too much garlic in a pizza place for a vampire to survive

My brother-in-law's dad is a big reloader. He melted down some silver jewelry and made six silver bullets for his .357 he keeps on his fridge. They're cool looking as all get out!
