I was in disbelief, had a list and found everything plus!
I really was hoping to find ammo for my Star Super the 9mm largo(long) got two boxes and hopefully found a source for other hard to find types. Also had a vintage military box of largo... corrosive, missing a round but he gave a good price.
Next on the wish list was some .45acp from WWII and a fellow had just opened a whole 10 pack. Repackaged in 1944..perfect.
Correct slings for the 1917 and Garand never seem to pop up but one fellow had both(one of each) and a correct bayonet lug for my Military stamped,Winchester 1897 riot. We talked for a good bit and the extra knowledge gained concerning Military Shotguns is probably better than the info in the M.S. book I bought for 10 bucks.
I'm always on the look out for a holster that fits my I frame, 6" barrel S&W .32he and that was at the next booth with a sheath for my Colt combat fixed blade.
Feeling really pleased I had a good sized load so started for the car to drop off the items and return. Almost to the door they called my name over the loud speaker...checked and had my wallet....did someone hit my car???
Nope, more good news I had won one of three $50 dollar gift certificates.
Maybe, telling the other folks filling out the forms,, the raffle was actually a National Guard sign up card helped my odds. That and an 1884 Trapdoor funded a second turn around the show.
The Trapdoor and certificate traded to a fellow for a Briddel WWII Machete with a rough scabbard and an F Barteaux made commando knife(similar in hilt to the better known Murphy type). Amazingly his offer was exactly what I wanted for the Trapdoor...hope he is as satisfied as I am.
I had seen a Colonial Pocket survival knife for sale but the owner was making his own rounds. Once he dropped the price to $50, I was glad he returned before I left. Very nice and knowledgeable fellow.
I had seen a large powder horn but wanted the previous items before checking on this. The fellow also had an old Flobert action .22 caliber rifle,,cracked stock, missing the breach flip up cover and a few other things I found later. The Octagon barrel won me over and for $55 bucks they both came home too.
All in all the best show in a number of years... I was due... hope you have been enjoying the shows in your area.
