best gun stolen from you?

My first carry in NYC, a detective special, 1974, nickel, with a nice set of custom grips. During a robbery. Would like a replacement, always missed that one.

I would lose it if ANY of my guns were stolen, I would probably vomit. I feel for you guys, it has to be tough.

I've only had one gun stolen from me and that was my S&W model 60 chiefs .38 spl. from my apt. in Alameda CA. in feb. of '93. I know who took it but could not prove it. I reported it stolen & provided the police with the serial #. fast foward to jun. of '99. I'm out of the U.S. NAVY and back in Illinois. I got a letter from the Weeling CA. police Dept. saying that my gun was used as evidence in a criminal case, the case was over & I had 10 days to claim my property or it would be destroyed. By the time the post office had fowarded the letter to me I only had 2 days left ! I called the # on the letter and explained I no longer lived in CA. but still wanted my property. The person on the phone said "no problem, we'll just send it to your police Dept's evidence Div. and you can pick it up." About a week later I got a call to come down & claim my property. I get their and a Detective takes me to a room opens up a box and takes out my gun and a sholder holster. I hand him my DL. & state ID. & FOID. card. The gun looked like it had been shot about 1000 times without cleaning and the hogue rubber grips were missing. The sholder holster was one of those ones where the bbl. of the gun points strait up under the arm pit. I told the Detective that the sholder holster was not mine. He said "ok" he handed me back my ID's. and the gun and said "I'm glad we could be of service to you." Never thought I'd see that gun again.

July,2004. Had a Witness Poly 9mm, Stolen from my Dresser. I had taken it from my gun safe at lunch, and was messing with it.... had it about 5 days...

Turned out , a friend of my stepson was in the house, and swiped it.
I went to get a copy of the report, and found a supplement report, where the pistol was recovered in a drug bust.. I was never informed by the P.D., that it had been found. The creep got 23 years in Federal prison, He plea Bargained, and my I have gotten nowhere, with trying to get my pistol back.

I can't even find out where my pistol is......
