That opinion isn't shared by everyone.

That is an understatement if I ever heard one
I will not bad mouth glock reliability But they don't point well for me
I like the my XD 40 so well I bought an other one

I'd recommend a used police Glock, from Summit Gun Brokers.

What they sell is as advertised and they're great to deal with.

You'll come in way under $450. Spend the difference on magazines and accessories.

I can vouch for the CZ-75. It, along with the SIG 226 Browning Hi-Power and the Beretta 92 are the best of the wonder nines - high capicity hammer-fired double action pistols. Best of all, the CZ-75 is cheaper than the rest of the field including the Glock. Better yet, they point naturally, are extremely rugged and reliable, and accuracy is top notch. There are many pistols out there good for the money, but take a new CZ over a used Glock.

Mike,

Now, keep in mind there's more than just a gun needed here, shipping, and transfer fees add up, too; so I keep those in mind.

Focusing on what you asked for (a 9mm that would be concealable for under $400), here's an idea:

NIB EAA Witness polymer compact for $343, delivered. Very nice CZ clone in a polymer frame. This pistol gives you some nice flexibility. If you later decide you want a different caliber, or a full-sized slide, you can buy a conversion kit for around $200. The kit would include a complete top end, and a new magazine.

If you prefer an all steel gun, here it is, in a semi-stainless finish (it only costs $23 more):

I don't believe the Browning Hi-Power is a double-action.

Folks, although I have never owned one; I find the CZ 75B(D) an amazing
piece; well built, and very capable of fine accuracy. I think for the money,
they can't be beat. Made in the Czech Republic, these guns come with all
of the bells and whistles commonly found in 9m/m's~! :scrutiny: ;)

Someone posted the new CDNN catalog. There are deals galore to be had in there, for numerous new and used handguns. Take a look.

There ARE double-action High Powers. They're just not terribly common. I think CDNN had some in the last few years. In addition, there's the "SFS" system High Powers where after cocking the hammer, you can press it forward. A pull on the trigger then snaps the hammer back into the cocked position. CDNN has these in stock in .40S&W.

Samgotit, CDNN has M9-A1s and M40-A1s for less than that gunbroker listing ($369 IIRC). Shipping from CDNN usually runs $10-$15.

^^You, Sir, are correct. Actually, I just phoned them. It's $379 + $13 shipping + $25 FFL... A tidy sum of $417. I think I need a new gun, thanks.

Edit: Just ordered one in .40. :)

Galleryofguns.com has a sale on Ruger SR-9s right now. Price depends on the margins set by the dealer you have it sent to, but I see it going as low as ~$375.

Just an update on this: The Steyr MA1's (9mm or .40) have been reduced, per new CDNN catalog, to $339 and shipping for me was all of $9.
