I am rethinking this issue. Anyone own a CZ P01 AND shot one of the following compacts? Walther P99, Smith 99, XD, HP, SIG, Glock? Comparisons?

Right nw I would say the Glock 19. Like it so much I bought a second. But now I have my eye on a Sig P228.

A few months ago, I looked at the Glocks, but chose the XD-9 instead for my hi-cap 9.

The XD simply felt better in my hands. And I was comforted by the extra safety on the grip. I also like the firing pin/loaded chamber indicators, and the Sig-like takedown lever.

I have now taken the gun to the range several times, and it is outstanding. Points naturally, great stock trigger, very accurate, and 100% reliable to date.

It rides in my car with me every day.

I own a CZ 75D Compact (often referred to as the PCR, basically a P01 w/o a rail). I've shot a Glock 19 several times, my buddy's Springfield XD9 quite a bit, and a couple of magazines through a Walther P99. I liked the Walther, the G19 was ugly but pretty accurate, and the XD9 was impressive (especially considering the price). None of them made me think about giving up the CZ, though. The PCR is my favorite carry weapon and it's hard for me to imagine finding another pistol that fits/suits me as well in that role. Of the pistols listed above, all are good quality firearms (in my opinion). Try to shoot as many different weapons as possible, the one you shoot best is probably the one to buy. (How's that for cornball advice?)

I have both the CZ-75D "PCR" and Sig P228. The PCR is lighter, and a little more compact. It is just as accurate and reliable as the Sig and mine is maybe just slightly more accurate. That being said, I like the P228 as much as the PCR and have a hard time choosing which one I carry. Guess that's why I have both. If money is an issue get the PCR, but you cna get super deals on used P228's as well. Mine was $369 from CDNN. Couldn't pass that up.

The S&W 6906 is pretty good and it can be had for really good prices if you shop around and buy used. You could get two of these for the price of one Glock.

I also like my 4" SA XD-9 in SS. I would not call it a compact but if the Glock 19 is a compact, I guess the XD can be a compact as well.

Well, this is a rough thread. Ive owned, shot or carried....all CZ Compacts inc. 75B, PCR and PO1, S&W 6906-3913-3953, Glock 19, Xd 9, P99, Sig 229 etc.
All are very good guns.......The one in my safe that I still carry is a PCR!
They are that nice.........simply put it may be the best carry gun in the world.!
Shoot well.

Glock followed by the Sig. I rank them that way because I don't care for DA guns as much as SA or Safe action. I like lighter triggers and I don't like the DA SA transition. Glocks being polimer also have a huge long term durability edge.

SIG 228.
Although, I'm really warming up to a buddy's CZ-PO1 and am about ready to pick one up ... I also like the two-tone CZ-75 Compact (sans rail).
For the record, I've had a Glock 19, just couldn't find the love ...
Appreciated the S&W 6906, but the ergos just didn't work for me ...

I find the SIG's ergonomics (grip angle, feel of the grips/texture, bore axis) greatly superior to the Glock 19's; it seems to be much more manageable as far a recoil (which is minimal anyway in both platforms) and the sights are much better. The SIG (in my experience) is far more accurate.

The 6906 to me just felt slightly clunky, did not like the trigger pull (the SIG 228, of all I've mentioned, had the best DA pull and a good SA pull).

My buddy's PO1 doesn't have a great DA pull, but the SA pull is respectable, and the accuracy was better than I expected. The big thing though, was the general "feel" of the pistol, which was excellent. Perfect grip angel, well-balanced, good handling, easy shooting pistol.
