What are the best magazines available for the Sig p226 besides the factory ones. Also since this is my newest purchase can anyone recommend anything or warn me anything I should expect or prepare for?

Thanks

I was lucky and found some used factory 15 rounders, and a coupla brand new 20 round factories too. I carry with a 15.

For non factory - well, for use in IDPA mainly, bought some cheapo Eagle mag's - and they are cheap at $10 - from CDNN was it, I forget. They work, at least three outa four seem oK, the fourth I have tweaked but still don't trust.

So - if carry and critical function IMO factory only way to go. For plinking and IDPA etc - the Eagles can cut it - but no guarantees.

One more vote for Mec-Gar.

Don't lose a grip screw. Ordering any small parts from SIGARMS can be frustrating, they want a minimum $25 shipping charge and SIG's website is more geared toward selling SIG tactical clothing than parts for their guns.

Forget aftermarket junk.

Both CDNN and Cheaper Than Dirt have used Sig Mags.

The ones I got from CDNN were factory refinished ones. Looked top notch to me.

Question is how cheap is your life? :uhoh:

Old Dog, I just ordered a short trigger from Sig and the shipping was $4.50, I think. Maybe they have changed their shipping policies lately.

I had to get some magazines fast for a course and ordered factory ones from Midway (I couldn't find any Mecgars in stock). They came in Sig packaging, but were Mecgars. Mecgar in Mecgar packaging cost $15-$20 less, I was kinda mad.

MecGar is the OEM for Sig magazines, but this is a slight difference.

The standard capacity 226 magazines that MecGar makes for Sig are 15-rounders. The 226 magazines available directly from MecGar are 17-rounders (different spring and follower).

The aftermarket +2 MecGar magazines have always worked as well for me as the Sig magazines.

Check the Sig Forum classifieds; several people are always selling MecGar magazines for $20 or less.
