I have a Bersa Thunder 45 and think it is the best 45 for under 400 but capacity is only 7.......What is the best new 45 under 400 with good capacity?

If you go for another 150 dollars, the FNP-45 is an absolutely fantastic firearm. It is, however, severely under-rated for reasons unknown to me. You can buy OEM 15 round magazines.

Why on earth would anyone care to worry about capacity when accuracy is so much more important.

Kick up your price range and the selection is incredible.

FNP-45 for about $500+ (CDNN) is a 'no-brainer!'...

Great shoot, well made, soft recoil for a .45, big-gun feel... with three 14-rnd mags!!
Have an FNP-9, flawless shoot!...
If you like the looks and feel, go for it... you won't be disappointed!

Yeah, I guess I should have said I own one of the newer USG variants of the FNP-45.

It came with a 15 rounder, and two 14 round magazines. The safety is manual safety and has a decocker. There is a firing pin block.

The older versions have a manual decocker only, so you can't do condition 1. These types don't have serrations on the front portion of the slide. They also don't have a red dot at the decocker to indicate the safe/fire position from the manual safety.

These FNPs will do 2 inch groups at 25 yards from a rest.

I got mine for 480 OTD at a local shop. I love mine.

.45 ACP under 400???

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but I've always had one frame of mind when it came to guns -- get exactly what you want the first time around. It's much cheaper than trying to make something cheaper workout out for what you wanted it for in the first place. As far as the .45 ACP goes I own a Springfield XD in .45 ACP and it is absolutely unbelievable. It has a 14 round capacity (13 in the mag. and one in the pipe). It's a very good gun that's roughly $150+ outside your range, but there's an old saying "Quality is always cheaper in the long run". They're words I try to live by. I'm not saying that something has to cost a lot in order for it to be a good weapon, I'm saying that it has to first be functional and durable and secondly don't let cost get in the way of what you want; save up if you have to, to get what you want the first time around. Checkout the Springfield XD in .45 ACP I don't think you'll be disappointed.

In that price range there are not very many options. Ruger's P345 is $405 delivered from Bud's Gun Shop, but it is still 8+1 capacity. The Ruger P90 is $419 delivered but has the same capacity. It is only one more round than what you specified.

Taurus offers their millenium pros from Buds for around $350 delivered and they have 10+1 capacity. The 24/7 is $357 delivered with 12+1 capacity.

I think Taurus is probably your only real option for a high capacity 45 acp under $400. Just check www.budsgunshop.com

Thanks, especially to Baneblade you gave a great detailed answer to my thread

Loop let me say this to you,I am certain you are a decent and great person, but when i post a thread PLEASE respond to the thread,PLEASE do not look at my thread nd then post a response simply being critical of my thread...No hard feeling at all but please stop doing that, you have did such on several of my threads,if my threads in your opinion are stupid or pointless then PLEASE just ignore them

I may be knew but i know the forum is for everyone to help each other, find common ground..it is not to be critical of others Thanks

Have to say for around $500 the XD-45c is really the most wonderful gun. Comes with two different mags. Short 10-round for concealed carry and longer 13-round for more like full-sized gun.
I know it's more but not a whole lot and the grip points so naturally it's just amazing. I'm not a very good shot but can shoot this bettrer than any pistol of any sort ever tried.
Customer service is good. Company sells good things and stands behind them.
In addition to trying the feel of guns in gun shops see if there's a range with rental guns near you.
For under $400 you probably won't find another gun as good as the Bersa. I don't have a 45 but two different 380s from them. If money is short right now stay with that. It's probably better than a lot of guns at much higher prices and if there's a problem they fix it promptly. Customer service is really bad with some companies.
