Best non-custom 1911 for the $

Howdy folks! New to the forums, but I'll weigh in here.

The original poster asked for "bang for the buck." While you can't put a price tag on absolute reliability, my High Standard Crusader has digested everything I've fed it for close to 1000 rounds now, with nary a hitch.

And at roughly $450, it definitely fits the "bang for the buck" category. Tight, accurate and reliable, thus far, and you can't beat that price.

best buy for the performance is RIA tactical for <$500.

after that its a horse race. Taurus and everyone else's low end.


Not much sense comparing after that until you get around $1k.

Avoid paying for the "name"
