1911 Selection Help

I have a SA Black Stainless target. SA has the lock thingy in the msh. Triggers are advertised at 5-6 lbs and mine was pretty heavy. Two piece guide rod was a pain, kept coming unscrewed. Accurate gun. I have done a lot of work on it, good for learning about 1911s.

I have a S&W1911PD Commander with CT grips. Better trigger, but has more junk than the series 70 innards. Some claim not as reliable, but mine goes bang every time. Light for a range gun, and shorter sight radius. Perfect for carry and the laser eliminates any sight issues for defense.

Between the two I'd go S&W. For range gun I'd go full size steel, probably stainless. Starting over I might go Dan Wesson, CBOB or Pointman 7.

I went nuts and bought an Ed Brown Exec Target and two Les Baer PIIs, one in .45 and one in 9mm. That's the risk of getting involved with the 1911 platform, for most of us you are just deciding on your first one for now. Enjoy

The S&W or the Springfield armory loaded. and as far a a reliable firearm they are just as reliable as they were when they were made with sloppy fit parts and allowed to wobble all day long with lousy frame to slide fit. my Wilson and my Springfield are tight as tight can be and neither these or any of my other 1911's have any funtion issues from haveing tight tolerances

Just for yucks - - look at the Uselton Arms 1911's.

Gotta get me one of them.

They are made in my home town. Have shoot several hundred rounds through 'em - Awesome! Pricey but great gun.

Plus I'm a member at their range.
