this is just personal preferences so there is no right/wrong answers. this is based on my personal experience. I broke these categories down to three most popular centerfire handgun calibers (9, 40, 45) and polymer/all steel. so I list what I believe to be best of class in each caliber with the polymer gun first then all steel gun next.
9mm: glock 34/ cz 75, 40s&w: hk usp/ sig p229, 45acp: hk45/1911.
this is just my opinion of the last 11 years as what shot great and handled well.
