This was kinda covered in an old thread back in December, but what the heck. Where can I point my FFL to for a new SU-16? Or does anyone know of any used ones anywhere? I will probably be getting one soon. I am in Kern County, PRK. He charges 10%, plus shipping, tax, and DROS. So the cheaper the better. Thanks for the help.

Am I doing something wrong? Impactguns listed it for $459 and Sportingarms listed it for $439. Plus Impact doesn't have them in stock. I think I am going to call my FFL this afternoon and start thinking about the process.

Who are you going through?
My home town in Ridgecrest (Kern County), I went through Jon's Gunworks and he can get them from his supplier for $439 (comes out to be $496 out the door). I went there and he typed some stuff up on hid computer and found um. I'm on day 2 of my 10 day wait for my SU (and sks) from Jon.

Dave Brewer Gunsmithing in Taft (40 miles west of Bakersfield, just in case you haven't heard of it). He doesn't have a shop, he just orders the gun you want and adds 10%, shipping, tax, and dros. Can you find out who your dealer is ordering through for me?

I finally got to handle a Charlie model SU. Definitely a big improvement over the Alphas, might even make a beliver out of me. I am not too big on the grip when the stock is folded, nothing as nice as my choate mini stock, but at least you can shoot it folded up. The sights are a world apart from the old plastic pin. If someone would make a decent replacement for the plastic bipod/foregrip, maybe something of aluminum with intergral weaver bases at forward 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clocks, it could be really sweet. Make a Delta model with a vertical pistol grip, and I'm definitely sold over an off the shelf mini.

Word has it from the SHOT show, Kel-Tec is gonna produce the "Delta" forend as a retrofit for the Alpha and Bravo models.

I've got the Alpha and I'm doing the Bravo sights. And if this comes to be, then I'll do this. I really never cared for the Bipod. I just don't think I'll use it. The guy I bought it from said he was very supprised at how sturdy the bipod was.

I just got off the phone with my dealer. I told him I wanted him to order me a SU-16. He said, "You too." It seems another one of our committee members just ordered one and the dealer was able to get it for $400 something (meaning less than $410). I guess one of his suppliers was selling them for $300 something and with the shipping it cost the dealer $4 o something. Nice! I just need to hurry and get those taxes done and I am in.

He also said that our friend ordered an OD green model. I guess they are making them in all sorts of colors. Yeah, I just checked the website and sure enough.

Should I get black or OD green? The Desert-Beige looks just like yellow to me.

"Any color you want, as long as it's black." How can it be an EBR if it's not black?

Muwahahhah! I bought Seven's (on this forum) before you did! :D :D :D

Looks like you've got the sourcing sorted, that's a great price. My SU is a very good rifle. Not quite AR-great, but very good of it's own accord, and takes those AR mags I've had forever :)

Bipod is worthless, but folded it's a sturdy, reliable gun (over 1k rounds now and 0 malfunctions.) Lubricate liberally.

Only thing I do not like is the polymer rails. Not the best choice for a precision optic. But what do I care? I mounted a red-dot and am very happy!

Looks like your gonna get a good deal, El Rojo. I just thought I would post THIS Link of a distributor who is VERY competitive. They don't have any but the SU-16 is listed for $398 and the sub 2000's for $244. You can't beat that anywhere I have seen.

I just PM Sven about his too, thanks for answering my question! (mutter)

I am thinking I might go with the green just to be different. I already have a black rifle, just neutered.

I will keep you all updated.

Yesterday I went by Golden West Bullets in South El Monte (Los Angeles) and picked up 2000 .223 55gr. FMJ/BT for $80. This afternoon after work I kicked out 548 rounds on the Dillon using 26.4 gr. of Win 748 (I only had 548 brass left!). If you count set up time I started at 6 PM and finished at about 7:45 PM. I actually started full scale loading at 6:30, so that is pretty good getting 548 rounds done in an hour and 15 minutes! That is the good news. The bad news is I broke my Midway impact bullet puller! :(

However, this is a good excuse to go order a new bullet puller, some more corn cob media, and a .223 load book. I am off to do that right now.

9 more days till she gets here.

Alright, it is about an hour later and I have since changed my mind about ordering corn cob media and the other stuff. The shipping at Natchez and Midway is way too much! The good news is I found through our search feature that many of our members buy their corn cob media from pet stores. Here is a 40 lbs bag of corn cob media from Petco for $25! That is less than what having 7 or 15 pounds shipped to me from either of the reloading outfits! I just wanted to share the good news about corn cob media.

Would the "pet" corn cob bedding (which I assume is designed to be soft, for pet use) be as effective on cleaning brass as "reloading" corn cob media (which I assume is a bit harder and/or more abrasive)?

Let us know how the corn cob bedding works out. Of course, if your ammo starts coming to you when you say "Heel!", we'll know it has some unexpected side effects... :D

I did a search through our old posts and numerous guys who post in the reloading section swear by the pet media and turtle wax car polish. They think the Dillon and Midway polish is over priced and the turtle wax is just as effective. I bought a case of Dillon spray lube and polish back when I wasn't married and didn't have a house payment and so I don't expect to need that for the rest of my life. However, the corn cob is different. I am going to go by Walmart and Petco after work today since it is just down the street. I will post the results in the reloading forum.

8 more days!

Damn, you guys are making me want one. With all the SU16CA talk and WildAlaskas EOTechs....jeez...I might as well be assimilated...I can't hold out.

I have it! Out the door it was $503. I will probably go out and shoot it tomorrow and post pictures then as well.

Is there any way to improve the trigger on these things? And is it just me or is this thing made out of a lot of plastic? The hammer even looked like it was plastic.

My gun dealer wants one now too.
