To my admittedly limited knowledge, there is no such thing as +p ammunition in .40 S&W. I know black hills labels one of its .40 loads as +P, but in reality it is similar pressure to other .40 loads.
.40 ammo is loaded pretty hot as it is I think. I'd be afraid of anything +P rated in .40. Any bullet setback in the case from too many chamberings and boom.
It's not a SAAMI standard, so they can call it 40 +P, or +P+, or 40 Magnum, etc. I think Corbon used to make something with the +P label. A SAAMI standard 40 +P is called the 10mm...
Peter Pi and the gang at Corbon load some pretty hot .40 ammo. I use the 135 grain JHPs for my home defense load. However, I find the pump 12-gauge with seven rounds of 00 buck under the bed to be somewhat more...comforting.
