I name my first 3:

1) Bersa (wins overall hands down)
2) EAA (Tanfoglio)
3) CZ
4) Ruger

Rock Island Armory for a 1911 pistol

Too many mixed comments to include Kel Tec and Taurus in the list

My top three brands by best value, in no particular order:
CZ, Ruger, Fabricaciones Militares (of Argentina)

1.) Taurus (I love mine)
2.) Rock Island Armory (for 1911s)
3.) Springfield (for 1911s)
4.) Hi-point (for the price, it's hard to beat)

I know many people probably won't agree with my choice of Taurus, but I still believe that theyre fine guns, almost across the board. My next handgun will probably be a 24/7 pro, or maybe a PT-945. Plus, their lifetime warranty is great.

rabble rousing again?

OK.

My favorite brand of self-stuffing pistols is EAA (Tanfoglio).

I bought my first one five months ago and have won every match I've entered using a Tanfoglio since then. I won another match earlier tonight.

Five match wins in a row; five matches without a failure of any kind and no gun-related issues is good enough for me.

I just bought my third Tanfoglio in five months yesterday. I expect really good things from it.

My No. 2 choice, Kimber/SIG. Sig carries the reliability and Kimber has the accuracy.

No. 4, who cares. No. 4 is No. 4. Reckon my choice is a Norinco.

Bersa don't make the list. Not in this lifetime.

EAA Witness steel.

I read their CS is terrible. Haven't needed it yet. (knocking on wood.)

Let's just say thank God the pistols are reliable. A lot of dealers in my area won't even carry EAA imports, because of all of their problems with the company.

Yes EAA service is rather terrible.
I loved my Witness 10 mm and I tried to fix my jamming problem changing mag spring, recoil spring and trying to tweak the mag lips...it improved a little bit but was still jamming here and there, unacceptable for me.
My gunsmith checked for bolt face/feed ramp/chamber burrs issues but he could not find anything evidently wrong..I contacted CS and they said I should ship the pistol back at my own expenses and having it shipped back on my own dime also...again, unacceptable in my book.

At the range, I heard from other folks of pistols shipped back and forward several times from EAA with issues not resolved...one guy spent in shipping expenses more than the cost of the pistol itself!!!

I decided of no taking the risk and I traded my Witness with a S&W Mod 29 44 Mag revolver.

Now my criteria, before to buy a brand new gun, is to assess the CS..before I got my Bersa I contacted the service department and they said that in case of any problems they would cover my shipping expenses in full..good enough for me, so far (well over 1000 rounds of different ammo) no problems at all, knock on wood!!!

I'm tempted to contact Tanfoglio in Italy directly and tell them how a great disservice EAA is doing to their beautiful products...

If the CS improves dramatically I may consider an other Witness 10 mm in the future, I miss that pistol...

If your talking entire line-ups? Then I agree with your list.

But if we discuss specific models?
You can buy a Ruger P95dc from CDNN for $249 brand new + $13 shipping. That has got to be the best value for the money I have seen bar none. I mean coming from a mass distributor and not a one off gunshow story :)

Springfield

A little over 400 bucks for a Hi Cap, service size 9mm or 40 S&W, with 2 mags and gear, that is reliable as the day is long, accurate too and, has good customer service is tough to beat.

Stoeger. The Cougar I bought is every bit as reliable as the Springer or S&W pistols I have had.

Dan Wesson Bobtail Commander.
For $900, you get the parts & fit of a $2500+ Wilson Combat or Les Baer.

I've said it so many times now, I'm a self-parody. I can't think of a better bang for buck deal than my $350 Stoeger Cougar. I am so impressed with this cheap gun.

I put CZ at the top.
I didn't have very good luck with the EAA that I owned, but they're supposedly better now. I haven't owned a Bersa, but I always hear recommendations.

And, Saturno, I really like your threads. I don't see any of them as argumentative, but challenging. You seem to want to learn and you do so by asking probing, but polite questions. Nothing wrong with that, IMO.

CZ World class guns under $400

Ruger Built like tanks and will run forever even if they look like a brick.

Colt Only gun line you can buy shoot 1000 rounds and sell for what you paid

If we're just talking shootability...

I love my Beretta 90-two .40 cal, even if it does have a plastic trigger (easily replacable, I'm told)

My Taurus PT1911 - ok, yes, I've heard all about (and experienced) their lousy customer service, but the pistol is built rather well (minus a shallow dovetail on the front of slide, which is being fixed and will post pics as soon as I have it back)

My favorite self-cocker was a 4 1/2" Colt King Cobra in .357 mag, stainless with black rubber grips...wish I'd never sold it, I miss it every day...

Last but not least, my Heritage Rough Rider SA .22 mag; my smallest caliber I own, because I needed a dependable plinker/varmit/coyote repellant while I was roaming the countryside of south central Texas
