What are the Flagship pistols of some of the major handgun makers? I mean the most famous and best effort they produced in an auto pistol? I mean ALL TIME, not just current production.
Here is my take, some I really don't know so add what you think.

Kahr = K9
Beretta =92
Taurus ?
FEG ?
S&W ?
Colt 1911
Bersa ?
CZ =CZ-75
Springfield Armory ?
Browning =Hi Power
H&K ?
Walther =PPK?

Mostly boring. But isn't that what you'd expect from a "Most Famous" list?

The .45 Caliber CZ97B is considered the FLAGSHIP of the CZ
pistol line.

Better fit and polish than the other Military grade pistols like the 75B. The Match Grade guns like the Champion are far more expensive than the $600 97B. Most think the hefty 97B is
more like a BAttleship:)

CZF.. I believe he was referring to flagship as in a front runner for sales and name recognition...

smith = m-39 (contemporay of the colt commander)
hk = p-7 (with the most distinctive being the P9S)
walther = shouldn't this be the p-38 ?
ruger = mark II
sig = 226 (maybe not in this country,but thoughout the world)

Kahr--K9
Beretta--92FS
Taurus--PT92
FEG--PJK
S&W--686p or M29 (they are way more famous for revolvers than autos).
Colt--1911A1
CZ--CZ-75 (They seem to want it to become the P-01 though).
Springfield Armory--1911A1, (though they seem to be making a play with the XD to become their signature line).
Browning--Hi Power (Do they even make something else?:rolleyes: )
H&K--P7 in handguns, MP-5 in longer guns.
Walther--P99 (it has overtaken the PPK as the flagship).
Kimber--The SWAT Model 1911A1.
Glock--G17
Steyer--M9
Ruger--GP-100 (Again a company with more favored wheelguns than autos. The GP-100 is legendarily tough and used as an ammo test bed).
Kel Tec--P32
SIG--P210 or 226/28 or 220 (They all have cults).

Browning does indeed make something else. I'm not sure if Boats is joking, or asking a question here. :confused:

First off, I can't beleive I forgot to put SIG on the list! I have edited to correct my mistake. I just forgot, it was not a slight on SIG in any way, I feel they are one of the best made pistol on the market (if not THE best).

By "flagship" I meant, the pistol that you most associate with the company.

I couldn't think of a good one for Ruger but Handy put the MKII in there and of course that is the one. Some are harder like the Walther, I couldn't decide between the PPK and the P-38, both have a case. I might argue that the S&W 59 is mor the flagship than the 39 but it is close. Some are easier, like the Browning and the Colt.

What is a Steyer 1912?

SIG

The SIG flagship is still the P210 and all of it's variants.

The P2xx series SIG flagship would have to be one of the stainless models; the P220ST, the P220sport, P229sport, P226sport, or the newest bad-boy on the market, the P226ST in .357SIG.

Hey Handy--

The Flagship marker of this thread is "Flagship Guns?" If one wants to use "pistol" and "gun" interchangeably I can't stop them. How else do you think the thread drew an "MP5" response from Skunkabilly earlier in the thread?

I'll "correct" my "mistake."

Signature flagship Smith auto--The Sigma. A complete rip-off of the Glock, so much so that they lost a lawsuit over it, the Sigma, along with a rebadged Walther, and a faux-Kimber, are the crown jewels of an autopistol line that is so creatively bankrupt as to be laughable.

Ruger--The MkII, the only Ruger autopistol most people wouldn't be embarrassed to admit to owning.
