Well, now that Lake Champlain is officially a Great Lake...but, yes, that's what I meant--the Burlington area seems very nice, plus there's the skiing and the cheese (I'm addicted to Grafton Village Cheddar).

Champlain is big enough for a decent yacht, and you can still sail down the canal system out to open water.

No Lake Champlain is not consider part of the Great Lakes such as lake Erie etc. It is a very big in land lake though. I would not live in the Burlington since there are way to many leftist in that area. Its best to stay out of the urban centers of Vermont because that is where many of the NYC progressives have taken up residency.

As a "NYC Progressive" myself, I take a bit of offense at that remark, but I understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately, many progressives conflate gun control with progress. Better, in my view, to associate with them on a constructive basis to help them understand that progress must be associated with personal empowerment and that the true goal of progressive politics is Liberty.

I'd love to move out of the PRNY and for me I've eliminated any place the doesn't allow ccw in restaurants that serve alcohol (AZ, TN, SC, NM, NC come to mind). GA has more places you can't carry then you can carry. Also places that no gun signs are legally binding like SC and OH. On the east coast that seems to leaves FL, NH, VT, and PA.

Oklahoma gets over looked a lot. I was a bit dissapointed to learn that Brady only gives us a D-. Lots of public land places to hunt, no State background check- NICS only, CCW, Castle doctrine, stand your ground, State constitution recognizes right to posses fireamrs for sefl defense, can't confiscate arms during emergency and my favorite from the Brady website demerit column -

First state in nation to pass a law to force businesses to allow guns in the workplace via cars in company parking lots
.

Is there anything the libo-gresives are not offended by?

Sure, but you'd probably be offended by some of them...;)

See, that's exactly what I meant when I said you should associate with progressives on a constructive basis, rather than prolonging stereotypes that are less than useful. You might learn something.

in my experience Pennsylvania isn't too bad. the primary negatives are the limits PA puts on what you can hunt with. semi-autos are illegal to hunt with, for instance. there are some weird caliber restrictions during certain seasons to try to prevent poaching too.

I'm throwing my chips in for Maine, too, for all the above reasons (which are worth re-iterating):
-No waiting period
-All NFA items
-Open and Concealed Carry (and the CCW is rather easy to get)

Also, and this is a biggie: No one really cares. (Laws or no laws, public sentiment matters just as much)

Also, you can carry in a place licensed to serve alcohol, as long as they don't have a sign specifically prohibiting such.

We don't have stand-your-ground or castle doctrine.....but I'm sure we could get there.
