I just got my new milled aluminum fore end for my Yugo Underfolder:evil:, and I am now eyeballing a Burris 2x20 pistol scope...

If you have experience with this product, please share. Or if you have a better suggestion for under $200, do tell.

I need a low powered (2x or 4x), fixed power scope with a long eye relief. It should be able to handle lots of rounds of moderate recoil from the 7.62x39 (I assume a scope that can handle a big revolver could handle the AK).

Whats your favorite "scout mounting" scope?

Burris offers, or at least they used to, I'm not sure if it is still available, a 2 3/4 power scout scope, which works great. I purchased mine in the late
90s, and it will do well on an AK. Leapold also put out a nice scoput scope, but they were a little more expensive. Check out the scout scopes first, I think you will be happier with one.

Moose and Steve,
I took your advice and went with the 2.75x scout scope instead of the 2x pistol scope. The pistol scope eye relief is too long, the scout is more intermediate. It should be arriving tomorrow. I'll post the results of this weekends shoot...

Thanks, KB

Here at UltiMAK we use pistol scopes on AKs with our AK mounts. The AK receiver is longish for a rifle, and the forward mount puts the scope pretty far forward. We can use "scout" (IER) scopes on them, but the occular bell has to be raised and moved back. It works great, but to clear the rear sight block the scope has be higher. A pistol scope can sit forward of the rear sight block, and lower, which gives you a more natural cheekweld. Leupold fixed-power pistol scopes are a perfect match.

Have you at UltiMAK tried the Burris 2X-7X-32mm or 3X-12X-32mm Handgun Scope?

Burris 2X-7X-32mm

I'm not "at UltiMAK" -- but I do have the 2-7x Burris handgun scope on an Ultimak rail on my accurized Mini-14, and its an awesome combination, IMHO.

I tried a Bushnell handgun scope on another "scout" project, and comparing the two is like a class in 'Optics 101'... the quality of the glass makes a huge difference.
