I'm in the need for a scope reccomendation for a springfield m1a scout squad. I would like to use a scout scope or long eye relief scope.

Right now I'm looking at a couple different scopes, the leupold fx-2 2.5 x28 and the nikon encore 2.5-8 x28, but I am open to other ideas.

If it helps my budget is about $350.

Thanks for the info,

-Ocelot

And does anyone know what this scope is: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=108128&d=1265426253

Guys. Explain to me the difference between these extended eye relief scopes designed for rifles and just any handgun scope. Why not just put a handgun scope on your scout?

If interested, I have the Leupold scope you're looking at, and I've been wanting to sell it. I had it on a Mini-14 and I just couldn't get used to the scout configuration. The gun had less than 100 rounds through it with the scope on it. The scope is in absolutely perfect condition (iirc, I'd have to pull it out to verify. It's been a few years since I've even looked at it.) I still have the box, lens cloth, and all paperwork that shipped with it. I'd sell for $200 shipped.

PM or post here if interested.

A pistol scope is EER (extended eye relief) while a scout scope is an IER (intermediate eye relief). Basically a pistol scope has a longer eye relief built into it than a scout scope.
