I'm going to pick up a new carry pistol. I've got some requirements it has to meet though. Has to be easily concealed under a polo or t-shirt. Has to be light weight. Has to have night sights. Has to be either 9mm or 45 ACP. Finally, I'd like it to be $700 or less.

Currently shoot a Glock 21 and 17 mostly, so I strongly considered a Glock 26 or 36. I'm just not sure about how well they will conceal.

Thinking pretty hard about a Kahr too, but I don't have any experience with a Kahr. Operation is very similar to Glock so it might make sense.

I'm open to other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

A 26 glock or 27 glock conceals great, I carry a glock 23 conceals well with a baggy enough t-shirt. The only thing that even threatens poking on my shirt is the grip length. A glock 27 would easily fix that.

For reference I'm 6 foot 4 inches, so your milage may vary.

Sorry add on, A glock 36 in .45 is MUCH wider than a glock 26. A glock 26 is easily the better choice.

I have a Kahr CW9 and a casual carry option for my G19...it replaced my S&W 642

I think that the Kahr is what Glock would build if they even made a really thin and compact pistol...if you'd like something even smaller, there is the new CM9. Either of these can be had for ~$400-$500 (including night sights)

I carry a PM9 with night sights, and it disappears under even the lightest t-shirt. My final cost after buying the night sights and having them installed was around $660. It makes a very nice carry gun.

I really wish Glock would make something in 9mm or 40 that was a single stack like the 36. This wouldn't be an issue if they did.

9mmepiphany, I'll check out that new Kahr.

Thanks.

I carry a CZ-75D PCR. It is the compact, lightweight alloy version of the 75 series. The other one in their line in 9MM is the P-01, but that has a light rail.

Depending on how you carry and dress, this is very conceable. However, there are lighter, smaller options like the Kahrs, Walther PPS, Glock 26, CZ RAMI, etc. In fact I am considering these options for summer carry too.

I think the g36 is actually more narrow that the 26 I'd say 19 over 26
Also checkout a kahr pm45 orpm9

I think you already answered your question, since you are very familiar with the Glock platform. Get a good deal on a nite site G26, and spend the diff in magazines, a *great* holster and 500 rounds of carry ammo. Blow up 200 of those rounds in shooting drills and then don't look back.

In 9mm a CZ 75D PCR is a great pistol but it does not come with tritium night sights (was my daily beater). A Glock G19 or a SIG P229 would be my first choice for a 9mm carry weapon with night sights. In .45ACP I carry a SIG RCS 1911 it tops your price limit but may be one of the best CCW ever, 4.2" slide on a compact "officer" size frame, and it comes stock with Novak tritium night sights. For me it's the grip length and width that are hard to conceal the RCS is thin and just long enough. They are hard to find right now so you may have some more funds to throw at it when they become available. Here is a review http://averagejoeshandgunreviews.blogspot.com/2010/04/sig-1911-rcs.html

For a carry gun, Kahr PM9 hands down for me. A close second is a glock 26/27. they're just a little too blocky for my tastes.

The Glock 26 would be the logical answer for you. It's lightweight and it's short grip allows it to disappear under a polo shirt or T shirt. 11 + 1 rounds of 9mm, well under $700, and it'll also accept your longer Glock 17 magazines.

An even smaller and lighter 9mm with excellent concealability would be the Kahr CM9. I like my PM9 and I carry it all day long. The CM9 is the same size and weight and is about $200 cheaper. PM9s with night sites generally run between $700 and $800.

Definitely well under $700 and sweet to carry. The wood fattens it up some. Hogue rubber spilt the difference between the wood and factory.

I carry a Glock 36 in an IWB holster made by kholster (crossbreed holter type) comfortably and very well concealed under a regular T-shirt.

I carry a Glock 27 for my CC gun. I drop a 9mm conversion barrel & 9mm mags in it for range time to save money. I also slide a 357sig barrel into it when I want more penetration, like in the winter when I would need to shoot a well fed perp through his winter coat.

I would get the Ruger SR9 or SR40. They are like Glocks with a safety. The trigger pull on these guns are just like Glocks, the difference is minimal. They are very accurate and dependable. You can probably buy 2 Rugers under $700.00
