Best Sources for Brass

Starline makes good brass, order it when it's in stock or on backorder. I recently ordered 7.62x39 brass that was on backorder, and had it within a few days, not counting the weekend. About five days total, but I ordered it on Friday afternoon.

Some ranges around me don’t even allow reloads, much less pick-ups.

Been to two ranges in PA when I lived there. One range had a policy of no reloads, but they didn't check your ammo. When I asked about the policy, the guy behind the counter said it was treated as a don't ask/don't tell policy. The other range allowed reloads, but only after their gunsmith had a chance to inspect them. He gave me the go ahead after inspecting them the first time, and the second time he told me he didn't need to look at my reloads any more.

Here’s the published rule at a new fancy (very expensive) range/fitness center in northern Virginia.

Getting off topic now, but did a new range open in No. VA? If so, what's the name of the place? You can PM me with the info if you don't want to get the thread off topic.

But do you know where I can get some .25 acp brass? The stuff is unobtanium.
I did some checking around ... None at Starline ... None at Powder Valley ... None at Graf & Sons ...
Natchez ... Not In Stock (NIS) ...Midway USA , Discontinued !!!

Now I did find some once fired mixed head stamp , 25 acp - 50 ct -$5.95
from an outfit called the Brass and Bullet Zone ... www.brassandbulletzone.com
I don't know if they are legit or a scam but advertising once fired 25 acp ... and that's better than no brass at all ... if this is a legitimate business and not scammer the price seems too good to be true .
Buyer Beware ... I have never heard / done business with them !

Yeah, not in stock there either. Luckily I have a few hundred rounds of loaded ammo, the catch being that the little buggers fly forever when fired and are very good at hiding in grass and gravel. Lol

Bring a tarp to shoot on? I use CMM brass catcher to capture my own cases. Nut Weasel for combing the floor (small size picks up 22lr up to 45acp)

I've thought about getting a metal detector, to help find those that go MIA. I have setup brass catchers and laid down large tarps to help keep track of my brass. Takes a little bit of work before and after but they both work, provided you set them up in the right area. I've learned to roll the edge over to keep the brass from rolling off.

OP, If you have nothing I could send you a box of .380 to get you started. PM me with your address and I'll see if I can get you a flat rate box in the mail. I do not shoot .380 but I have some saved as a PIF for someone. FYI, it will be mixed range brass, whatever fits in a small flat rate USPS box.

I know what you mean ... I have a 32 acp and loose the cases in the weeds before the brass can wear out !
Since I absolutely hate to return home with less brass than I took to the range ... my 38 special revolvers are getting a lot of range time ... they don't jump out and run and hide like the 25 and 32 acp's do !

New brass- why- unless you are involved on competition shooting or rare calibers?

Fired/ used brass? Individuals or gun ranges.

In the past, ranges swept fired brass (or raked if outdoors) AND sold it unprocessed. Cheap and affordable prices. Except for putting in buckets/ or possibly sorting - which takes seconds for qty. of 50- it was not worth much, and was left underfoot (paid for by their customers).

It should not be expensive- being non-tumbled, unless someone is greedy, and trying to take advantage of everyone who paid for the brass in the first place.

My club owns all brass on ground other than mine. And, hunting for mine is like looking for a haystack in a needle. It is all over the place…..
I had an indoor range try to tell me that. I told them I brought this brass in here and I will take it with me when I leave. They said " No I won't"
I told them to give me my money back for my 1 year membership and I will go somewhere else to shoot.
They told me to just wait a minute, and after some discussion they told me that I could pick up my brass if it's on the floor behind the line. If it's ahead of the line then it's there's.
I agreed to that.

I still left and went to a different indoor range that has better ventilation and I can take all my brass with me when I leave. I can even pick up others brass if they don't want it.
I feel for you as I already went through this.

Is this the only shooting range you have in your area? You may want to look around.

I just gave a bag of 380s away or I would send them your way.

As for range rules…If they say no brass pickup. It means no brass pickup. Follow their rules or go to different range
I usually do but I told the range I was using that I reloaded and they said that was fine, so I bought the membership.
Then the first time I shoot and I pick up my cases they lay an attitude on me.
Me telling them I reload my own ammo, before buying my membership was part of the discussion I had with them.
That's why I told them I wanted a refund on my membership.
They changed their rules instead of giving me a refund, which worked for me and several other reloaders that shot there.
Sometimes it pays not to blindly follow rules.

That would be great.
Where are you in Mi?
I’m in Saginaw. If close I could pick some up.
I'm down near Brighton so at least an hour + away. My wife is dropping off at the post office this afternoon so you should see them in a day or so.
