What is the best stainless snub nose that I can buy for 500 bucks. I just purchased a new taurus 850 cia for the nightstand and found out I really like revolvers so I want another for carry and glovebox when I cant carry. Only requirments I have is has to be 38 or 357 and snub nose and stainless, no alloy, also small frame like my taurus. Thanks

Hello out there in THR land! :D

My vote will be cast for the original .38 Special
Smith & Wesson J-frame model 60, with a pinned
barrel and a "R" serial prefix. :uhoh: Lots of times
these can be found at very reasonable prices. :D

I had a S&W 637 for awhile and sold it, too small for my hand.
Had a bit of a kick with some rounds.

S&W Model 940

I like this one best. :D

Snub

mastinson,

I have three snubs: an S&W Model 649, a Colt Magnum Carry, and an S&W 340SC. The most accurate is the 649. If I do my part, I can put five rounds into one big hole at 15 yards.

In addition, the "hump back" lets you use single action when testing loads and accuracy. The hump also prevents hang up when drawing.

The only reason I bought the Sc/Ti was for the weight savings,

Well, no one likes J frames more than I do, but I will point out that you can buy two used SP101s for $500 and your joints will turn to dust before you shoot either one of them out.

Here is a pic of my Ruger SP101 that has been customized by myself. I still have work to do to it.

Here's another vote for the SP-101. It's a little heavier that most of the Smiths mentioned above, but I like the controllability with any .357 Mag load. I've carried and fired a lot of different snubs for several years now and this is where I've come down. Good luck in your decision.

Based on your requirements I would suggest the S&W 640 .357 concealed hammer snub. I've got one and think it is the ultimate in stainless small frame snub revolvers. I also have the 2 1/2" S&W 66 which is a fantastic gun if you want to go to a medium frame. As others have mentioned the Ruger SP101 is a fine gun as well. Let us know what you decide. Mike

Simple-----a S&W 686P 2.5inch barrel----7 shots of .357mag---adj. sights---enough weight to tame the beast .357.

Goes for $480 around here.

Man, my pic sure came out crappy looking! I don't know why either. I think I am going to have to retake the whole series of pics again with a little better lighting. Thanks for looking anyway.
