Check out page 26 of CDNN's most recent catalog.

You can get a .308 FN Patrol Rifle in 20" or 24" Fluted Heavy Barrel with scope rings and a Hogue Pillar Bedded Stock for just over $500.00.

This is a $1,000.00 rifle!

This is about the best deal out there that I know of currently - the only catch is that they might already be sold out.

I have one of these. I have put SIX different brands of ammo from Federal hunting ammo, FN milsurp, PRVI Partizan and PMC ball ammo and that rifle shot sub-moa with them all.

I don't care what rifle "deal" are you are recommended, but right now, the FN PBR XP from CDNN is the best .308 value out there right now.

I would point you towards the Remington 700, there's a 20" Heavy barrel version that's very accurate, can be found for around $580.00

And if you attend any F Class matches, you'll see a lot of factory Savage F Class rifles winning. In fact, 3 out of the top 5 at last years F T/R Nationals.
Yeah, I remembered those after I posted. By 700's I didn't mean box guns, and the F T/R isn't what everyone hoots and hollers about being the best rifle ever built. I don't know, guess my opinion isn't worth much.

Not saying your opinion isn't worth anything, just saying if he's looking at F Class, the factory Savage is competitive. I'd hate to try to haul one around hunting though.

I second the Remington 700 SPS Tactical heavy barrel. My dad picked one of these up, slightly used, with Nikon 3-9x scope, for $500, its a sweet shooter!

+1 for the Remington 700 SPS Tactical. Don't let the "SPS" kid you. The Tactical variant has a dual-pillar bedding for the barreled action.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I think I am gonna go with the Savage 11G Hunter, as its lightweight and a decent wood finish for $480 new.

My only question left is, will this combination of rings, mount, and scope all fit on the Savage 11G?

The rings:

The scope:

The mount:

long range target shooting. Though the less weight the better I guess, I don't want it excessively heavy.

22"-24" bbl seems right.

Remington Model 7 CDL sounds right up your alley.

Beautiful wood stock with satin finish. 20' bbl in .308 but 22' in magnum. Weight is about 6 1/2 lbs before scope. Local shops should have it right at 600$ MSRP is 900 but who pays full msrp??
