I live in rural Connecticut and have 150 acres of fields and woods. Since deer season opened in september, my father and i have been fighting tooth and nail to try and keep people from driving into our fields shooting deer at night, and guys on foot crossing my boundary lines and shooting at all times of day/night. We have had several pretty crazy encounters, one night a truck drove into our field and parked for 20 minutes before shooting three times, in the direction of a neighbors house, and then driving off. One of our other neighbors watched them do this and failed to notify either myself or the police because they thought it was too late to call.... :banghead: on another occasion the same neighbor watched a guy walk from the next farm over (ill get to this in a minute) into my field that borders their place, mid morning on a wednesday, while myself and my father are both at work, and shoot at a deer twice. the guy that owns the neighboring farm (where the guy walked into my field from) is a notorious poacher and trespasser, but he has calmed down now that he's a little older and i think he pretty much stays on his own side. but he permits half the damn state to come and shoot deer, and he has a crop protection license, yet doesn't grow anything... :sigh:

So when our neighbor that saw all this crap happen told me, i gave them my phone number and told them to call me whenever they see anything, I put up no hunting, posted, and private shooting area signs all over the place and at every entrance, but it still doesn't seem to stop anyone. I even talked to our neighbor and told him to keep his guys off my place. I'de prefer not to get fish and game involved because then they'd be crawling all over my place, but if it comes down to it i suppose thats what i will have to do.

what are some clever ways to keep jacklighters and poachers off property? anyone have any good ideas?

How 'bout some signs saying the property is under surveillance, and tresspassers/license plates are photographed and reported?

hahaha i got the no hunting ones with the little space to write info on, i wrote "if you can read this, your in range" on a couple, and "area protected by 7.62mm" on a few others, but the best one i think was "KEEP OUT: WE DO NOT WANT ANY UNFORTUNATE HUNTING ACCIDENTS"

the only way you will stop poachers is to have them arrested.
they may retaliate afterwards too so be prepared.
if they are cought by the game warden or police they may and probably will claim you gave them permission to be on the property.

"KEEP OUT: WE DO NOT WANT ANY UNFORTUNATE HUNTING ACCIDENTS"

... and someone fails to grasp the mission of The High Road.

Veiled threats, no matter how cute you think they are, certainly don't advance what we are doing here.
