So i accidently tossed a handful of .380acp in with my 9mm brass. I realized what i did as soon as i did it and picked out as much as i could, but i know i may have missed a few. I really dont want to sort it 1 by 1 with a bucket of 2500+ brass in it. So...whats the easiest way? I know if i missed one i'll most likely see it when i grab it to load it but i dont want to take the chance.

Do you reload on a single stage press? 380acp will go into a sizing die with little more force on the handle than what gravity provides. Thats how I've found 380 mixed in with 9mm.

Stand them up on the end and line them up. The .380 will be pretty easy to spot that way. Otherwise, I don't see an easy way to visually do it.

Only other way I know of is to leave it alone for a while. Then go back to it, and it'll be easier to spot the different cases. Once you stare at it too long, they all start to look alike...

nope lee turret. I tried running a 380 through it (9mm setup) and it will decap, size(feels a tad different), it will dump the FULL charge in the casing, and it will seat the bullet, but the bullet fits in really loose since it has not been sized properly. i'm sure i'll see it, i just wanted to make sure.

Turret is the same thing for what I am talking about. I find a large difference in force needed to put a 9mm through a resizer compared to 380, just me though.

I also load on a Lee Classic Turret.

Hard to describe, but you will probably feel the difference when you pick up a .380 case. It just doesn't feel "right." I sort by headstamp and the huge majority of .380 get caught at that stage. A few make it to my bags of makin's. The VERY few that make it into the press are caught on the first 'capping/sizing stroke. It feels like a split case.

If you're letting them make it past the charging station you need to pay a bit closer attention.

With practice, you can see the difference and just pick them out.

Meanwhile, stand them up next to each other on a flat surface and pick out the short ones (the .380's)

That could have been my post.

I've had a few (out of many thousands) get to the sizing/depriming die where it was OBVIOUS that something was wrong. I've also had "1" 40 get to the sizer.:uhoh:

99.98% get caught when sorting by headstamp. I usually bring home 400-500 9mm cases each range trip. I had about 6 or 7 380s today.

I dump mine into the 45 APC trays. They get counted & the short ones are easy to find.
