I just recently mounted my 550b on the table in the garage. I have covered it with a black trash bag but... we have had a lot of rain and moisture (sunny southern california!) and am now concerned about getting any rust. I am thinking a light spray of a good gun oil and wipe down but figured someone out there would probably have a better idea. Thanks.

I live in humid, rainy FL and have all of my presses n the garage covered with black plastic garbage bags- no rust issues yet in 7 years here. If you're still concerned, use an old pillow case. You can always spray a light rust preventative on most areas to help if need be

Old cotton pillow cases work very well. Canvas money sacks are also good, if you can get your local bank to part with theirs !!!

On canvas - I do use an old canvas shot bag over my RCBS Uniflow powder dispenser - fits like a glove - if you could get a few, many a wife has gotten creative with those over the years - I have a "tote" my wife made from several, others have had shooting vests made from - they were great for things like that

The handle of mine is brown now with a light coating of rust as are many of the other steel parts. It functions just fine and I could care less about the resale value as I'm not selling. The casting itself is aluminum (I suppose) and hasn't showed a hint of rust on any off the machined surfaces.

I use to cover it with a bag, but eventually it started rusting anyway. Such is life in the Houston area.

Make your own light weight "spray oil". I use about 1 part of kerosene and 2 parts of Automatic Transmission Fluid in a "Windex" trigger spray bottle.
